why do people wear costumes to movies?

im going to a movie on wednesay. its a special event for a manga film, being shown for one night in tehaters across canada..woo! there are people who go to these eents and dress up in costumes of their favourite characters. There is even going to be prizes for best costume. my question is, why?

I have dressed up many times for the
Rocky Horror Picture Show, acted the parts and usually always have seen it at Midnight.

 

also, being nerdcore is cooler now than it was.

 

It's kinda like cosplay.

 

there is a name for people who go to movies and dress up? and its called nerdcore, that is a pretty weak name.

 

because the world is full of manga loving nerds

When me and my very close friend went to movies to see the Shine A Light movie (Rolling Stones' concert), we both dressed up into Stones clothes, like tongue t-shirt, tongue scarf, tongue everything. and it was fun, we enjoyed it maybe even more, cause from the first moment we were being taken as those "crazy Stonemaniacs" and no one was surprised when we started crying when Keith hugged Mick... aaaw...

So.

 

Cause It's Just Harmless, Good Fun..

When You Accept An invation To A 21st Birthday Party Or Similar..

Quite Often On The Invitation They Will Ask Guests To Dress In The Same Theme..

Most Often.....The Theme Reflects The Interests Of The Birthday Boy/Girl..

Maybe Their Hobby..Sport..Social Group (emo..goth..punk..footballer..rockstar...etc)......

Just Go Along With The Vibe..

Dress Up..

Have Fun..

I know what you mean, when I went to the premier of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace back in 1999, every fool and his mother were dressed up as Chewbacca, Princess leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and every other assorted species from Jawas, to Bothans, to Rodians
