I have read numerous Christian viewpoints.. that claim society could not function without God and morality.

The funny thing is.. it is functioning right now without God or morality.

The outcome of a Godless world is.. ironically a world full of people who create a God for themselves to believe in.

We live without God right now.. and everything you see is the result of this.

A Godless world is a cruel one. It forces people to form a belief in a void in the sky. It forces people to create society and law. Without a God we must rely on each other. We try not to kill each other, we try not to steal, we love one another and we try to stay happy.

What you see when you step outside is the result of a meaningless world. A world where people flee from poverty and pain by creating something to believe in.

A world that actually had a God would be one of freedom. Religion would not exist. Man made, oppressive laws would be non-existent. We would live forever, without a pre-test and we would not feel pain. We would not gather in pathetic groups to punish ourselves by feeling responsible for "sin" and pain. We would be one with everything and everyone and nothing would be required of us.

We have become so good at convincing ourselves that life has meaning.. that some poor souls actually believe this now. In fact, they run countries.

When existentialists talk about creating "meaning for our lives" because existence precedes essence... they do not realize that religion has been that meaning for centuries.

Religion helped people in a time of disease and death. Now we have technology. We should abandon our faith in God now that we have realistic things to keep us sane in such an absurd but amazing world.

iPods and insulin (read:technology) will keep us sane in our "absurd but amazing world"?

I think you misunderstand what a Christian means when he/she says that there are no morals without God. The argtument, at least as I see it, is that there are universal morals of humanity. These morals come from somewhere, namely God. Without God there are no universal morals. Therefore God is nessecary for morality. Not that faith in God is nessecary.

Technology without the guidance of wisdom is blind and dangerous. iPods are good and all, but it causes people to go within themselves and to drown out what's happening around them. I go on the subways and everyone treats each other as strangers and this leads to the us versus them mentality, which eventually leads to the creation of the 'other' or enemies.

I'm sure iPods helps us in multiple ways. I personally love what technology can do for us. But to say that it creates sanity is the exact opposite of what it can be used for... and I am sure it does help people keep level... what I am trying to say is that its intention of use is very important.

Think about how often people look at each other in the eyes. It's become a rarity to focus on the person that you're talking to.

Speaking of iPods, I refuse to talk to someone with one ear-plug in...so rude.
