I can't stand where I live. It's basically Suburban Hell. People here are just narrow-minded greedy people, who just are always in a rush. I would love to find an area with friendly people with open minds and great times. Somewhere where there are no noisy traffic and rush of the greeds as I would like to call them. I would love to just move away from the city and into a big country area with like-mind people. Anybody know of a place of this assortment.
be the change you wish to see in the world. the place you're looking for is inside yourself. http://www.thework.org/doTheWork/index.html
I am currently in the same situation and would love to get out of the hell here in Wisconsin. Please let me know if you find the place you are looking for as I am to searching but so far have had no luck.
there's always an horizon to dream of something better for ourselves... Myself i change of place to live many times 'cause i was not so happy with it...but you discover that you run after a mirage (check the Iron Butterfly song "Mirage") . What we run after is after for sure after ourselves... When we change of place it helps but you still with your own house forever wherever and this home is our body... my soul want to be free ...but this is the human condition that we had to live with...and after a long work within ourselves we can maybe find one day the place of our dreams...and i hope u will find your place of dreams chick! bye sorry for my approximative english marc
That's all true, about finding peace in yourself & all, but where you live can really effect your life. If you hate where you live, move somewhere else, but if you've moved 5 times & are still miserable then maybe your location had nothing to do with it. I spent graduate school is a conservative town in Tennessee called Murfreesboro. After 4 years I was going out of my mind. We moved to Austin, TX and what a relief - I actually met people I had something in common with could attend a Buddhist center, joined a writer's group, etc. Austin might be too big & busy for you, Dylanzepplin, but there are other places. Asheville, NC comes to mind if you've got a New Age hippie spin & like mountains: it's a relatvely peaceful mid-sized city. If you're really into Rural Bohemianism there's Floyd, Virginia a town of 300 or so that has several intentional communities and a health food store. I've heard Moab, UT is interesting. If you're into Pueblos & hippies you might check out Taos, New Mexico. There are lots of places where you can meet more like-minded people & have a better time. You could sit for decades in the suburbs, lonely and alienated telling yourself you should be happy. Don't do it! get out in the world & live a little!
to Dylanzepplin- There is some very good advice in these replies...... it's priceless, heed these words for truly, happiness lays between something inside yourself and who you are surrounded by. I would like to add my two cents. I noticed you said you want to head out to the country and get out of suburbia. Let me tell you because I know first hand, DO NOT assume that rural (country) means laid back people!!!! if you were watching the election results, Bush won because of RURAL votes (think about the conflicting values here) ... there are only a FEW select rural places that you will find like minded people (ie:asheville, Floyd communes, Humbolt perhaps). so be careful, and plan well (save for a rainy day) and GOOD LUCK TO YOU
yes and if you want to live out of the city and join a community... Be ready , be ready to work hard the land ... so you will be welcome everywhere if you can work hard ...hippies farmers exist ...this is probably the condition to follow your dreams
