methylating Phenethylamine

so could you methylate Tyramine in to pma
and PEA in to amphetamine or something like it

 

Whatever you do stay the fuck away from PMA. Tyramine is in a lot of food and supplements. It's a basic amino acid....

I've spent more time than is probably healthy researching routes to amphetamine, and I've seen absolutlely nothing like that. It's a fairly obvious route, if it were possible it seems likely it would have come up as a topic on the hive, or in Strike and Fester's books. It didn't.

So is it for sure that you can't combine ANY amphet synth component with phenylethylamine for another ampht synth?? I'm no chemist but comparing amphetmns skeletal structure with phenylethylamine, it seems like there could be something that could convert it.. because the structures look identical except for 1 bond or something
