Paul McCartney or John Lennon... Which Beatle was the better songwriter?

    It's a tie ... they both wrote some of the greatest songs of all time. What I think is cool about the Beatles is that some of their best songs weren't even their best known. I think "Julia" is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. And how could there be a better song than "Jenny Wren" or "Blackbird"?

    john lennon by far. paul wrote more mainstream, pop bullshit(i still like his music, i think think lyricly its not very good, hes a great musician though) but lennon had better lyrics and had more passion in his music.

    Lennon was the better revolutionary, but I liked McCartney's love songs. George was an interesting mix of both...
    Ringo... wrote... children's songs? Haha, not a very complex thinker as far as I could see, though he was always my favorite with his droopy puppy dog eyes and "hideous great hooter." ;)

    because hes still a great musician, and a good singer. i didnt mean hes total pop bullshit, i just think that compared to lennon, he didnt evolve as much musically.
