I'm not English or American so what's your point and where is your reasoning. I spelt part of my reasons for not thinking he was good, just saying someone is awesome isn't enough. You must have evidence to back your opinion?

Try reading the attached link and tell me he is still awesome in your eyes?

You got it right. I'm not impressed by guns, swords and conscription. If Bonaparte had good ideas, the power of his ideas should have sufficed to put them into effect. Anything else is 'might makes right', just like the Americans got away with in the last century and are trying to get away with today.

He was without a doubt the head of the most evil form in the universe.

They still exsist to this day despite the many attempts of many people to stop them.

they are simply known as the French. It has often been said , that france is a very beautiful country spoilt by the fact it is full of French people.

Was no more 'evil' than my grandmother.
Much as i flounder in the role as mderartor.
Please restrict your threads to things that actually could 'be'.

My great great great grandaddy was napoleons' marshal 'Marmont'
    What a prick.

I really think the french and the russians should get together and have
vodka and champagne party where they all drink themselves to death
in a fit of remorse and apathy.

    poor us..

Spot on chap! i watched a programme on UK history which really didnt look upon him in such a bad light, just showing his rise to power and his tactical and leadership skills, and the seige of toulon but he was a corrupt and ruthless and like you said his army raped there way across europe. anyone who thinks he was a 'cool dude' is sadly jaded.

You can't categorize Napoleon under only 'good' or only 'evil'. He wasn't good, but he wasn't evil either. Besides, what do those words -- good, evil --- even mean? They are entirely subjective generalizations and cannot be used to make a rational assessment on someone's life.

Napoleon was an intelligent and talented general and a statesman. He has his merits and he has his shortcomings.

One can say whether he likes him or not. I like him. He was the greatest self-made man to date.

A little learning is a dangerous thing; drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring: there shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, and drinking largely sobers us again. (Alexander Pope)

When mankind is extinct Napoleon will still be one of the five most influential people to have ever lived. "The Napoleonic Code" is the basis for most of the legal systems in Europe and the world is a better place because he existed.

Good or Evil? By whose standards?
