Midnight come, and the headlights fade away
Translucent fabric light transforms it all,
Silence comes with the passing of the day
And moth wings beat where amber light does fall.
Eyes weighed down by burnt umber heaviness,
    Suburban gnosis coming on strong
    While through smoky clove-laden breathiness
Come meanderings of bebop Bird song.
Street lamp outside flickers through cloth and glass,
Moth breath whisperings of Beat poet dead men
Cause the reign of night fall to quickly pass,
Yet allow twilights reign return again.
Midnight come, and the headlights fade away,
But burnt umber heaviness here to stay.
