    Hi lovely people,

i have a huuuuuuugggge problem, a beach party + a silly 25 year old who threw sand around, a huge handful of it landed in my dreads

i have tried dusting out as much as i can and showering but there are grains still stuck, especially where the hair starts to dread about an inch away from my scalp

any advice pls? there is no way in heaven or hell that i am cutting them :(

if it were me, id just ignore it and accept that the sand is now part of my dreads. its not going to hurt them and will probably come out eventually on its own.

try soaking them in warm water then squeeze out well. Or if they're real tough...brush them.

This is probably the best way to go about things.

    Hey,

I was surfing in Bali and wiped out and ended up getting washed up on the sandbar with about 3 tons of sand in my dreads. I was worried too, but it was fine, I rinsed out what I could and left it to dry, after it dried I just sat shaking my dreads and most of the sand just came out, this took a few days of occasional shaking and being in the surf then I rinsed it out again. That was 3 months ago and I haven't noticed any sand or problems with anything smelling or going mouldy. It's all good.

thanks everyone :) i guess i had a panic attack

but i went to bed, and found that the friction between my pillow and my dreads did cause most of the sand to drop, there are still bits here and there but it's all good, now just a few more days of waking up in a sandy bed :D

    :cheers2:

It'll probably still be coming out for weeks to come. A bit of sand in the hair never hurt anybody (I hope) and at least it's not dirty.
