But I stopped because I got tired of people making it a "religious" issue and taking my choice more seriously than I do... and then assuming that I'd live up to their standards for how I should act.

I got tired of going food shopping and having someone tell me that I should demand the management carry more organic foods.

I got tired of going shopping and having strangers tell me that I shouldn't buy one brand of eggs because their version of "free range" wasn't "free range"-enough.

I got tired... so very tired of people thinking they were doing me a favor by providing that "faux-meat" and acting offended when I preferred simple foods that actually tasted like nature intended.

Basically, I got tired of all the BS. The vegetarians around me pretty much killed me. Now I eat meat about once a week or so... often less... but I never became vegetarian because of an "ethical issue." I just don't like a whole lot of meat anyway.

Now... the real thing that kills me. The whole time I was a vegetarian (a little over two years), my family fought me about it and would constantly try and get me to eat meat. I never pushed it on them but told them it was a decent and pleasant choice. Well... now some of them are on the whole "vegetarian" kick and suddenly... I'm sitting there trying to explain to them that "I know your whole argument but I just don't care... it was the preaching which drove me away in the first place... stop..."

I feel bad... like I should care about suffering and the environment and all that. But I don't... well, I do... but not as much as I care about being left alone and not being preached at. My peace of mind at the grocery store is worth more than the painfree life of some of the animals I end up eating. :(

Eat what you want to, man.. even if you don't eat meat you don't have to call yourself a vegetarian. Just pass on meat when it's available (or don't).

Remember: save a carrot, eat a vegan ;)

Eating lots of meat is not healthy anyway.
You could just eat a little meat very rarely...
It's understandable how much uncomfort you can have because of being a vegetarian. I don't know why some people just don't mind their own business. I'm almost sure they don't lead the healthiest of life styles.

some people are just plain a pain in the ass.

i liked some of those fake meat products, because they're a pretty good filler, really. but i developed and intolerance for soy.

still, it makes for a fun and creative way of eating. just ignore the assholes.

I was a vegetarian for about five years. I stopped mainly because I was living on the streets and most hot food that I could buy contained meat.
I also got sick of people trying to convince me that 'we're meant to eat meat' etc etc
Geez, it's not like I ever tried to convince others to become vegetarian.
