A spin-off of my other thread. I was discussing this with a friend recently. I think most people would say no but we both found that neither of us could resist an 'offer' like that.
Yes I would. I figure there's a pretty good chance I'd regret that, but I'm...just a really curious person. I would put up with an awful lot of boredom if it meant I had the chance to walk on Mars someday, or be there for first contact, or...or, y'know, wear a jetpack.
Possibly. But I don't know if it is worth it not to find out what's on the "other side," which would be one major drawback of living forever. And for some, living forever would be a greater form of hell than anything you could imagine occuring in the afterlife.
Good point, Snoop - I imagine for people who believe in an afterlife (and don't think they're gonna end up in hell), this would have to be an easy no.
I wonder if you'd ever get bored with sex. I mean forever? That's a long time. Think of the boredom you'd eventually endure, not to mention the losing loved ones over and over... And if you had kids, then they grew old and died, then you had more kids... One of your kids could have a half brother who lived thousands of years ago! I wouldn't mind watching forever, but living it would not interest me. I wouldn't mind a longer lifespan though... And knowing for sure what happens after death would probably change the way most people live their lives...
i figure if i were to live forever, i might have sex about 6 more times. and yes, i only have it in me to enjoy it 5 more times.
I am going to live forever in perfect health and mind..I will travel around the world over and over and still have time to spare.
I want to know what death is like, what the afterlife is, and what I will come back as. in the words of Jim Morrison... “People fear death even more than pain. It's strange that they fear death. Life hurts a lot more than death. At the point of death, the pain is over. Yeah, I guess it is a friend...” blessings xxx
I would, so long as I stayed young. But would I be immortal, like nothing could kill me? Or I just couldn't die of natural causes, like a vampire.
Yes if I could stay young and if I was immortal in the sense that natural causes wouldn't get me. I want a get out clause.
Why would I wish a curse like that upon myself? You guys should read the Dune series. In the fourth book, there's a character who's lifespan is in the tens of thousands of years. He is possibly the most tragically miserable person in the universe, for this very reason.
I need to know the details for an offer like that. Like someone else said if I would age it would be no fun at all for sure.
Nope, I definitely don't want to live forever...I think it might make a person not appreciate the life they have if they know it never ends. eace:
I would not. The old generation dies so the next generation can rise. Circle of life and all that. I believe in it with my whole heart.
