shrinking(with pics)

I'm at 2 months and just read a thread where lotza dready people were saying at 5 months their dreads shrunk to hald the original size. does this happen to most? I expected them to shrink about an inch or 2...but with the roots growing do you notice that much? here's some recent pictures





p.s. ignore the roots! I henna dyed them before I dreaded and am planning on growing them out I think

 

from those pictures its hard to tell. maybe pose the same for both?

your dreads look amazing!! So freaking awesome for 2 months!! I've noticed that mine have been shrinking in width, particularly at the base where the new growth is. Cheers!

 

mine shrunk to half their size, or about that.



the first is about a week, the second is from yesterday (2 months like you)

im not sure if you can see it in the first pic, it wasn't the most ideal conditions but the change is pretty dramatic.

from what i can see, it doesn't look like there is much difference in length between the second set of pictures, i can't tell with the first.

i guess its different for everyone because for me it has started pretty early.

 

When I started the knotty journey, my hair was just past my shoulders, and they shrank up past my chin in the first year, getting nice & tight, before they started growing in length again.
Here they are at about 2 years, almost back to the original length;

 

Dam, your dreads shrunk hella. Im at 7 months roughly, and mine have only shrunk about 1 inch since. I think the key for me, was that I backcombed my sections super tight, and my dreads by 4 months were nice and formed already. Some people that backcomb loose, they shrink alot more. And with the no-comb neglect method, it seems they shrink the most that way..

 

Yeah, I loosely backcombed, mostly to section them. I noticed that they shrank the most between 6-18 months.

 

Im at 2 months and it seems that my hair has shrunk a little bit. Nothing drastic though.

 

Hmm im at 2 months and like 17 days not much shrinking just a little. And you must do maintnance you have 0 loose hairs it seems like.

Your dreads are well behaved for 2 months. Mine are all crazy wild. lol

 

I put aloe on them to tame any frizzies but yeah, they are pretty good ^____^ I satrted them by ripping them and rubbing. No backcombing.

 

Mine are all natural and they stopped shrinking at around the 5 month mark. However my hair is was only around 4 inches when I stopped brushing and it comes in really fast, like an inch and a half a month.

I bet yours will shrink way up until they're no longer cleverly hiding that your boobs. :0
