i've got just the brew for ya, fitzy!
its a strong belgian beer which ought to age magnificently, but unlike many strong belgians its a hoppy beer - a belgian take on a double ipa

lemme look it up for the name, and i'll snage a picture, too if i can



"chouffe houblon dobbelen ipa tripel"

chouffe is the brewery, i think it means gnome or something. i dont know what houblon is. i'm guessing dobbelen ipa means "double ipa" or something similar, but idk for sure because a "dubbel" is a double malted belgian beer, and the words aren't identical. so essentially its a cross between a double ipa and a belgian tripel, which is a strong golden beer with a strong belgian yeast which provides for all manner of exotic, spicy, delicate underflavors and nuances



stuff is great, it's delicious, aromatic, potent, and garaunteed to be unlike any normal ipa or normal belgian beer you've ever had, but you'll recognize it as both for sure when you taste it.

if you like hoppy beers, keep an eye out for this, its a keeper, and i can almost garauntee it would age well for ya:cheers2:

i'll be on the look out for it. i'll have to check my place downtown to see if they have it...i know they carry more belgians than my local place.

 

I also got some of the Jefferson Reserve...you can really taste the bourbon barrel..I like

I got some Founder's Harvest Ale too, which I have never had

 

ive been eyeing that

i've tried one of the sierra nevada harvest ales, its good

 

so i was looking at other beers similar to the chouffe houblon dobbelen ipa tripel, and i came to see the Urthel Hop-It, which i have had...and it was incredible. Had that last 2 summers ago i believe.

 

i've seen that, but never tried it. i'd like to

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout: 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Dark black, with a very small head and it retains till the drink is gone. the lace around the glass melts back into the drink and creates a small head

Smell: roasted malts, sweet chocolate smell, very inviting to drink. a hint of coffee.

Taste: at first, alcohol comes on very strong and hard to notice the roasted malt and chocolate. as the beer sits and breathes, the chocolate comes out. very sweet as I first sipped and as it roamed around my mouth, hints of bitterness of the chocolate came through. after taste was bitter with a hint of coffee

Mouth feel: creamy, with a silky touch on the tongue. moves around easily and slightly coats the tongue and cheeks before it moves on

Drinkability: can't see finishing a whole 6 pack of this in one setting. 2-3 would be fine. very enjoyable to drink. this beer gets better as you drink it.

i can't wait to see how it ages

 

oh wow, i didnt realize the ABV was so high. i haven't had it before, looked it up


3 is definitely a good number for a sitting, and it sounds like a great beer
