Try Wishbone Ash. Started in 1969 and are still going today, albeit only one original member. Innovator of the twin lead guitar sound. Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy among others have credited Wishbone Ash heavily as a main influence of their's. Best album is Argus(1972). If you want something a little more up to date, try Bonafide (2002) or Illuminations (1995). Or try a greatest hits or live cd, the "Tracks" cd's are very good . Check them out here: www.wishboneash.com

The Beatles im not talkin about a greatest hit cd or anything, im talking albums. Everything they did was brilliant. Repeat above with the Rolling Stones. Besides theyre not as good as the Beatles, but who was? John Lennon's The Plastice Ono Band and Imagine Neil Young is great. Black Sabbath with ozzy was great. The Band Jefferson Airplane David Bowie Early Santana was good ill stop
The best band playing today is TV on the Radio. You might have to give them a chance- it's challenging - but you'll see them on most of the "best of 2008" lists this year; it's not just my opinion, I promise! I say this as a guy who grew up on and still dearly loves the bands you mentioned. I found "Are You Experienced?" in my mom's record collection when I was like 10; I liked it because their outfits were colorful. I feel very lucky that that album happened to be that album; no one would ever influence me as much as Hendrix did. TV on the Radio is a mostly black rock(ish) band who are determined to push music past where it's at now, and they are succeeding. Not to the extend that Hendrix did, but....well hell, if you're gonna hold folks to the Hendrix standard, we might as well quit trying with new bands. And who knows what your kids might think? Edit: I should say that TV on the Radio isn't new. Their last album was on a ton of Best Of lists too, and some people even noticed their first album. This is their third, and you know how third albums go. The first is full of brilliant, messy ideas; the second is rushed out; the third is when you find out whether they're the Real Thing.
Thanks for this link. I had this site bookmarked but forgot about it. Lots of good stuff here, including many concerts from one of my favorite jam bands, Tea Leaf Green. :cheers2:
You might want to check out Manilla Green. They're a newer band from Australia and really make good rock songs. Check 'em out www.myspace.com/manillagreen
