it stunts/slows growth if you are under 25... haha your body's timer works on melatonin levels. i take it when i go camping, and usually get some strange dreams... i only took like 2 pills (not sure how many mg per pill) though... how much are you talking about when you say "lucid and trippy dreams if you take a shitload"
It's suppose to be relatively safe even in high doses, however, if you are doing that every night it might be a good idea to cut back. It's probably best not to messing with your bodys natural way of getting you to sleep. For what its worth, even 1mg of melatonin is enough to help me to get to sleep if I don't use it very often.
try this again. 20, 3mgs tabs.. Ways past my bed time.. if I dont have a trippy dream. Im spamming the fuck out this thread. j/k I do have to say the next couple of days after taking mels, I remember some weird dreams. I just dismissed it cause I dream very intense shit all the time.. Im shell shocked too. I hear blast noises before I fall out, Sometimes they wake me before I fall asleep and I sometimes see a bright white flash in a CEV when I hear the noise.
I have read about some certain drug use in combination with melatonin, and of course. As soon as I find the link, I will let you guys know.
I used 6mg in combo with Benadryl a few weeks ago and realized I started to have awful dreams. It's not so bad with just 3mg...but I really don't think it helped my sleeping any more than a placebo...my sleeping schedule is way fucked up anyway.
Melatonin is typically best to take on an as-needed basis in young people. Melatonin levels decrease as you age, so it's helpful for the elderly who have difficulty sleeping. However, if you're young and have normal melatonin levels, you could overdose if taking it on a regular basis. There could be something else causing sleep difficulties. However, there are some people who do just have low melatonin levels....I think they've found it correlates with some disorders, like ADD, depression, etc. SO it's very helpful for jet lag and temporary use, but you should look into carefully before using it on a regular basis.
Melatonin is for people who cannot stay asleep at night, it doesn't make you go to sleep. One time after maybe a day or two after taking a pill or two of 2mg each I noticed hearing my thoughts as I lay down, I wasn't sleep as far as I know, I just sat listening to cartoonish sounds, not scary at all. One time I was almost sleep and I forget but whatever it was woke me up instantly, pounding heart and what not, but then I just went to sleep, no prob. I get CEV flashes too, it looks like an exploding sun, but I am not shell shocked. I always wonder where it came from though.
Melatonin is completely natural. Our bodies produce it naturally. The first time I took 10 mg or so for 3 nights and had the most vivid dreams of my life. I haven't been able to do that again, but maybe I just haven't been taking enough.
Aren't you thinking of Melanin? Also someone erroneously stated that Melatonin is vitamin B6. It's not.
