Tequila is nice too, but I've come to find it makes you do stupid things like put your shoes in the freezer more so than other liquors. Pretty much anything but rum works for me. I don't much favor rum.

Fav. Whiskey --> Jack... Jim Beam is shit, and I know Beam b/c I was born and raised in beautiful Bourbon Co. Ky. Having arguably seen more empty JB bottles than anyone on these forums, I am in the (privileged?) position to have opted out of drinking this bile more times than Milliliters number in fifths.
A warning - NEVER waste yer $$$ on Woodford Reserve (whiskey). It's very expensive and complete bullshit! That this sound advice is seldom heeded is evidenced in the very next post! (I delight in the corporate ability to inflame the desires of people with more drainable funds than brainpower) Once again ~ WR "bourbon" has only the illusion of quality! Don't be fooled! ~And plz understand that my ribbing is wholly good natured!
