I played with the lighting and saturation a little to make the distinctions between dreads more clear in the pictures. Sorry for the slightly blurry pictures also, not the best photographer of myself. Here's the tilt-your-hide-sideways view. You can see the individuality of each dread a little better this way. And here's a back of the head shot. Its pretty messy back there. This is my new hat. It's ballin.
uhh im somewhere in the 4th month. pretty close to 5 i think. i had them back combed so its not natural. thanks for all the dread lovins. seriously i get the Jesus comment a lot. theres this kid in school that i dont know but talk to and he calls me Jesus. i dont know his name yet and ive been talkin to him in the halls for like 3 weeks. it really doesnt bother me anymore. just kinda used to it. also get the Geico caveman comments a lot, but i think thats funny and wouldnt mind auditioning.
no i dont use wax, or anything else. i do keep rubber bands on my roots. i was told not to by everyone on here. but the guy who did them, who has dreads, said to leave 1 on my roots. so i do. i took them off a while ago and went like maybe 3 months with out them. but then my hair started to get out of whack, so i gave in and put them on my roots. other than that, nothing else has been done.
They are amazing!! Love how you've not forced the ends to round, I'm getting a lot of slack right now for mine but I love them not messed with. Kudos to you.
some one said in another thread that time is the great equalizer, and they were right. your locks look more or less left alone. im sure it would have been different right after you back combed but with time they calm down. im on the second page here, so i can't quite remember what you said, but did you take the bands out after 3 months, or after 1 month? was it time consuming?
taking bands off the roots takes a bit of time, you just gotta go slow so you dont go cutting have your dreadie off at the root. there's a lot of guess work involved when you're getting the bands out at the back.
i left the bands on my dreads for like a month and then went 3 months with out any bands. last saturday i started putting bands back on my roots only. it really doesnt take to long if u just sit down and put them on/take them off. its just really boring so i was doing a few here and there. but it should take that long if u do it in one sit in. and ya, taking them off the roots is kinda annoying cuz theres loose hairs there.
why do you use the bands, what do they do? keep them apart? i have some wraps and things in mine and can see the hair can go over them a tennie bit
ya just to keep the roots from eating each other. and i found the hat on that etsy website. 20$ with shipping. not bad.
