HEY everyone, i would like to ask some of the people who have had upper-mid, back tattoos because
    this
is going on my back and is going to cover pretty much the entire top half of my back... this is my third tattoo... i'm terrified.

i'm not a large girl, and i don't have a lot of fat back there (this is my back if it helps at all, blue dress is me)

i'm just wondering how much it's going to hurt (not that i care but i'd like to know what to expect, roughly)and if you have any specific tips for back tattoos...

AND, even if you don't have any tips or experience...
what do you think? personally i'm in love and i can't wait until tomorrow.

Pain is relative mate. I always find it funny when people ask if tats/piercings hurt. It all depends on you and your own personal pain threshold.
    Good luck :)

oh i know it'll hurt, and i'm thinking it's going to hurt like a bitch, i want it too bad to worry about that but i'd like to be prepared... i'll definitely post up the outline and the finished result, in time.

i'm super excited but the two tats i have already weren/t too bad but it's a tiny dime sized peace sign on my foot and a purple snake+chinese symbol for truth on the right side of my lower back... neither of which is large... or right next to my spine, actually i believe the top point of the tree will come close to that vertebrae between your neck and your back that sticks out a little more than all the rest... and like i said... i have little/no back fat... i know it'll hurt, but in comparison to my other two i am NOT prepared for what to expect.

My friend is just as skinny as you and she got a tattoo on her back. I watched her get it and she usually is a baby when it comes to pain but she made that tattoo look easy! She said that it hurts like a burn for the first 4 minutes but then your body becomes numb and the pain become annoying, not painful (like a headache, does that make sense?)
Hey, nothing wrong with be curious about the pain level, I looked up tongue piercings on youtube to see how painful it looks to get. I like expecting the worse, that way once it's over I can say "Hey, that wasn't so hard!"
I'm getting a rib tattoo next month and I hear the rib hurts like a bitch but I'm ready! It's going to be of a spiral.

PS, that tree is AWESOME! You better post the finished work here!

Oh, and I forgot to mention you have to keep breathing when getting a back tattoo. I remember a tattoo artist saying people pass out becuase they try to hold in their breathe but it just makes he pain more obvious.

I never found tats to actually hurt. I really enjoy the feeling of getting ink done. Trust me, it becomes addictive.

update, got the outline done yesterday, it really wasn't that bad, the parts on my spine hurt a bit more that the rest and the top part of my spine closest to my neck actually really hurt. so worth it though.

i LOVE it! can't wait to get the shading done.

Love the tree, looks similar to a Celtic tree of life, beautiful, can't wait to see the final tattoo.

my back never hurt being tattooed, but my bony shoulders really hurt when i got shading done. i've never done it but my friend takes a vicodin before a tattoo.

i eat a full meal and get so blazed. very very many hits from the bong and a blunt maybe, very stoned.

im getting several tattoos on my back and ive asked several people who have them in the same general area and from what ive been told it honestly depends on how boney your back is and how high of a pain tolerance you have. seeing as how you said youve got two other ones already the pain shouldnt be so bad.
