Why shave at all .... anywhere? What is it that makes women's legs and pits gross if they aren't shaved? And why are guys who shave their legs and pits are considered to be weird? Question: Why shave legs? Does it sound like a completely weird question or are there some people who thinks like me (and Old Troll) and prefer natural looking legs on women?
It appears that although most people in the U.S. think that female leg and armpit hair (and even pubic hair) is gross in some undefinable way, they are totally unable to explain their feelings. Except for the pedophiles who want their women to look like little girls, I think that it is mostly because of societal pressures. It's sort of like nose picking ..... bring up the subject and many will say, "Eewww!" .... while over 95% of American adults pick their noses.
We once had a group discussion in a sociology class at CEGEP (CEGEP is between high school and university in Québec) after we watch a video about societal pressures on women to look like fashion models. After earing an entire hour of arguments of all kinds against superficial acts like shaving legs and wearing makeup, approximately the ¾ of the group was still arguing that hair is DIRTY (not even "gross"... dirty!) and a sign of a bad personal hygiene. When asked about the difference between hair on a male and hair on a female VS personal hygiene, nobody found a single argument. I think it means a lot about our society's collective corrupted and sometimes illogical mind. Why is it clean on a man and dirty on a woman? Some serious mystery, isn't it? I think that's a bit sad. By the way, the fact that I talk about a collective corrupted and illogical mind doesn't mean that I think people are idiots. It only means that social and collective habits are sometimes too strong and that a huge majority of people, even if they sometimes see illogical things around them, don't know how to respond and how to fight them. People just too often lack the courage to act the way they want.
It is just the media influencing you. There are plenty of attractive girls out there that don't shave their legs, arms or anything. Then again don't you already do your bikini line or does that not bother you? Seems like a lot of work. Just be your self.
You know what? This has helped me a lot, I've decided not to shave my thighs, I'm going to leave them. calves are enough for me! I'm just going to be happy the way I am, no point changing to please others, when they'll only like me for the way I look, and not the way I am. If they don't like it, screw 'em! It'll just make it easier to filter them out, find people who are really worth being with. Thank you all so much! I really appreciate it, and I hope you learn something from it too Love you all Lola xxx
Congratulations! I'm 90% sure that a huge majority of 14 year old people are not ready to think that way. The younger you learn to act in conformity with yourself (and not with what people in general think is okay or not), the stronger you'll be later in your life because a lot of your personnality will already be well defined and because you will feel good about that definition of yourself. Judgements based on a person's look are quite stupid. Work on your inside instead of working on the outside. It'll pay off a lot more. (P.S.: sorry for my English... i'm not 100% sure that everything in this post really means something as French is by far my first language.)
i'm not 100% sure that everything in this post really means something Don't worry ... the same is true of most English-speaking posters.
Your English is better than that of most native English speakers .... and infinitely better mastery of English than 99.9% of us Americans have of French.
