Hippies Wail for Dead Trees

Thanks yo prana. That video brought me tears twice actually, the second time I showed it to my partner and he agreed with me. It's real pain.

Yeah, so true on the log smuggling. This is second hand info but once I hitched a ride with a longshoreman in BC who told me about the underhanded dirty log trading off the coast of vancouver island. He said the dockworker people are often paid extra, bribed that is, to undervalue the log booms with large old growth trees in them. Thereby giving the foreign customers a steal of a deal. Also, I've heard but have not confirmed, that wealthy people hire helicopter's and poach old growth trees...I just don't want to believe that could be possible...however the large logs are very valuable and make special custom order table/mantles etc. for the rich...so who's to say?

That a very sad story about the Amazon. Sneaky. It just goes to show that law alone can't protect nature. If indigenous and conscious people were living in that forest though, they would have seen all the extra trees leaving. Feet on the ground are so important. I think a lot more illegal logging than we know is happening. Often companies like to fudge the water records, I still am seeing choking creeks full of slash despite all the legislation. There is a great need for folks to be living & loving & laughing and crying in the forest.

 

Y'all want something to cry about, check out this Salazar cat Obamas picked for department of interior.
He is buddys with logging and mining interests and is a "water expert".
He'll be a great help when it comes to fudging those water quality reports and what not.
Believe me, here in Western Montana, I see everyday the needless damage
company's like Plum Creek have done.
Clear cutting for decades.
We have top forest service officials retiring,
that have published confessionals attesting to their severe depression over what they have allowed to be done to the forest.
