burning dvd's

    I bought a new computer today with a dvd burner and dvd player in it I cant quite figure it out........... anybody know what program i can use to copy the dvd to my harddrive so i can then put in a blank dvd and burn it

    well, you can use nero to burn it to your hard drive, but, you will have to compress the movie before you slap it on a disk, the DVD-R's have only around 4.1 Gb of space, whereas the disk you copy to your harddrive has around 9 Gb because it is a Dual layered disk, DVD shrink can compress the movie down to the right size

    I use a program called "Super DVD Ripper" to send it to my HD as an AVI. (Usually saves as a 700MB file.) Then, Nero to burn the actual DVD that will play in any player.

    thanks alot guys, will this stuff be able to get me passed all the copyright stuff?

    DVD shrink will get you past the copywrite stuff and compress the movie for you so it'll fir on a 4.7GB DVDR if you want to copy from a normal film file .avi etc. to a DVD you'll need something like Nero Vision Express to 'transcode' it before you burn it off if you want it to work in a normal DVD player.

    I downloaded nero off the net........ but do i have to buy it so i have the serial number?!?!
