Hi ladies I don't know how many of ya are in the same boat as I, I've been suffering from recurring yeast infections for 3 or 4 months now, and I've been trying EVERYTHING I read about to make it go away! Including: inserting a garlic clove, oral and vaginal acidophiles capsules, plain organic yogurt vaginal suppository, diluted tea tree oil vaginal suppository, nightly boric acid capsule vaginal suppository, and I even tried an oral anti-fungal medication called fluconozole with no success! so far, the boric acid seems to be keeping things at bay, but unfortunately isn't killing the infection entirely. I have tried store-bought treatments in the past, but I prefer not to use them. This is making me insane, and I miss making love with my significant other ridiculously! Anything I'm missing? Help very appreciated! *cosmic*elf*
i use the storebought ones when i have issues, but a lot of times recurring yeast infections are, well, going to come back repeatedly triphasic pills can increase susceptibility to yeast infections (ones with a different dose each week, like tri cyclen) nonoxynol9 (active ingredient in spermicide which is also often used on condoms) can increase chances of yeast infections for some women as well and then theres all the more known of ones - sweaty non breathing underwear, exercising and not changing, not showering enough, etc
you need to get better ointment that what they have at the general stores and go to a GYN and they will give you stronger ointment that will get rid of it so that it doesnt keep coming back. sometimes you can get a really bad case, and the OTC stuff isnt going to work.
what was it someone suggested here a while back? a tampon soaked in distilled white vinegar and inserted, kept there for a few hours. i mean, i don't know. i've never had one. it kinda makes sense, though: acidic vs. basic.
it might be a bacterial infection rather than a yeast infection. i got a bacterial infection a while back, i hear they feel about the same.
yeah....I've been to the doctor a few times already, and I've got another appointment today. Not sure what she'll be able to do this time around, i feel like I've tried everything, but perhaps I'll try the vinegar thing. thanks for the words
If its reoccuring, you and your SO might be passing it back and forth. Men often are carriers for the yeast, but don't get the actual infection the same as women do. Your doctor might want to give you both a pill that will knock the yeast out.
I drink kombucha and soak in a bath with sea salt and vinegar. I believe the medicines (both OTC and from a doctor) make you more prone to yeast infections. I used to get them ALL the time until I started drinking kombucha regularly.
yoghurt up the vag always works for me. if i were you, id make sure its really a yeast infection. if youre sure it is, maybe change your diet. cause with all those treatments, if its still there, id say you need to address the rest of your body and take care of any imbalances.
I visited my gynecologist the other day, I've got a similar problem. Besides the obvious, she said it could be from little things like, taking long bubble baths - the bubbles... Also, if you use a scented soap down there, that could be a factor. She suggested using something milder like Ivory or Dove. Annnnd... not to scare the bejesus out of you, but it *could* also be an STI of some sort... Some people don't show symptoms, some do...
apple cider vinegar. white vinegar isn't the best. Try drinking some of it (a couple of tablespoons diluted with water) too just to balance your body. Rinse your mouth out real good so you won't wear down your tooth enamel. It's strong stuff.
guys i am kinda scared...I am pretty sure I have a yeast infection...I have had all the symptoms for three days or so. I have done some reading via google and learned that antibiotics and pregnancy are common causes. Now I have been on antibiotics pretty much consistently for about 2 months (due to some surgery and recurring infection). When I told my mom she said she was waiting for something like this to occur. I guess I am scared that I could also be pregnant. It's been almost two weeks since I had sex and it was on the last day of my period (wearing a tampon wasn't necessary in the end). When they say pregnancy is a cause do they mean when someone is one of the latter terms of pregnancy or is it something that can happen immediately? If yuo guys have any answers or comments they are much appreciated.
goodvibes, its probably just the antibiotics. antibiotics are non discriminatory, they kill the good bacteria too. good bacteria is what keeps your vaginal walls clean and disease free. flushing out all sorts of ickies, from remnant blood, to leftover lubricating excretions, to adventurous pool water from a vigorous swim. when you are on antibiotics for a period of time, especially an extended period, your body can't fight or clean away the foreign organisms, in this case, yeast. it is unlikely that you would get pregnant on the last day of your period, because your last egg was flushed with your period and your next egg shouldn't drop for at least a week, probably 2. there is a chance that you are pregnant, but its slim, and yeast infections are more likely to effect women who have established pregnancies. yeast like warm, moist, dark places, and pregnant panties are a good place for that. you are probably not pregnant, and you won't know until next month anyway.
AND TAKE YOUR PROBIOTICS, LADIES!!! no joke, any number of things can kill off the good, cleansing bacteria in your vagina and allow yeast and bad bacteria to take over. probiotics are not only good for your belly, they're good for a clean vag.
What they prescribe doesnt always work. I've been getting them on and off during the pregnancy. I bought an ointment the ob/gyn prescribed, it didnt even make it better. Wearing strictly cotton underwear and adding probiotics to my diet has made a BIG difference.
there's a probiotic formula specifically designed to help women keep their vag bacteria healthy. i think it was designed for women who lose their good bacteria due to things like antiboiotics and such. ask your pharmacist about it.
i have been doing a lot of reading and it seems women with diabetes are more succeptible to recurring yeast infections...i mean i am definitely not tyring to diagnose you, but is this a possibility?
