A thing not mentioned by the news commentators on those video clips is that the police vans and police car shown comming under attack from demonstrators had first driven at high speed through a dense crowd of people. One incident though clearly shown is a woman being knocked flying by a charging police horse. Such disregard for the safety of demonstrators by the police that day was disgusting, and something hardly touched on by the media who concentrated on the violence caused by the demonstrators.

The Channel 4 documentary 'Battle Of Trafalgar' shown a few months after the demonstration in August 1990 clearly showed how heavy handed policing and in some case clear unprovoked police brutally was the main reason for the riot.
