who has experienced ego death on mushrooms? is it something that's dose dependent or mindset dependent (basically, if you take like 8 grams, is this something that's guaranteed? or could you say take 3 grams and guide yourself into the experience)? how did the experience impact your life afterwards? and, finally, is ego death more associated with mushrooms or LSD? i assumed mushrooms (which is why i posted here), but i've heard people talk about it with LSD as well.
ego death is also found in dissociatives. it is -correlated- to a higher dose. it changed my life 180 degrees. read some threads in the lsd forum.
it can happen with just about any substance. ive never had it on mushrooms alone (i smoke dmt on the peak if i feel saucey) but i have on acid, mescaline, dmt and 2ct7 its seems to be very dose dependent, mind set had to do with it too. there no way to be possitive when it will happen and at what dose
this is just a piece from TOOL's song "Reflection" And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping. The moon tells me a secret. my confidant. As full and bright as I am, this light is not my own A million light reflections pass over me Its source is bright and endless. She resuscitates the hopeless Without her we are lifeless satellites drifting. And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Dont want to be down here Feeding my narcissism i Must crucify the ego Before its far too late I pray the light lifts me out
tool is a great psychedelic band, the music isnt all that trippy but the lyrics convey the experience amazingly well
"the music isnt all that trippy" Whoa whoa, hold up...I know you meant good by saying the lyrics are trippy but you can't say the actual "music" is't trippy. If you have any music theory knowledge yo'll know that tool's music is very very complex which makes it trippy. And songs like 4 degrees Third Eye 10,000 Days Stinkfist The Patient i believe tool was based on a psychedelic motif and the motif spirals out bigger and more colorful as tool comes out with more CDs.
there def a psychedelic/rock band, the music and lyrics are very deep, it makes you think. i just dont think its the same psychedelic as say the doors. tool is one of my favorite bands. the music is more spiritual than trippy i guess thats what im trying to say they use unusual timing/rhythm, esp danny on the drums. very experimental
I have. It was my second mushroom trip, amazing. It was around 2-3g. Higher doses seem to be correlated to ego death, I have not seen this in personal experience. it can happen with a variety of hallucinogens
It's entirely dependant on the person, not the dose. A higher dose is more likely to produce ego death or something similar, but this is still decided by your position in growth. I would not have said this without my own experience, but I am not kidding when I say that a certain trip on 3.5 grams of average cubes was both the most revealing and the most difficult time in my life. I've eaten multiple times that amount of the same strain before and never even scratched the surface of what happened that day. A higher dose will produce immobility and extreme mindfuck, which can bring fear that one is dying or the experience of seperating from the body. But actual dissolution of the sense of Self is up to you. The mushrooms wont take just any ol person that far.
..people should read the lyrics to 'rosetta stoned' by tool for some psychedelic induced songwriting!; and the music is very psychedelic in a progressive sense.
