It's been a month and a bit and my hair has just sectioned itself abit. I was fine with waiting, but that was when I was in college and could wear a bandana or hat or etc. I'm going back to highschool for a semester (long story) and no hats at all. I want my hair to look, well not like a birdsnest. I backcombed one in the front, mostly because I was drunk. It looked good this morning, felt like a dread showed. I was thinking I backcomb now, so when I return to school on Jan. 29th it will look not bad.
yeah, you do that. My high school had a no hat rule too. they wouldn't even let this girl with this hair condition (she was practically bald) wear a hat. Good luck.
its highschool, who is going to give you trouble over hair? if you can give some better pics maybe we can talk, but right now it looks like your hair is more noticeable to you than anyone else.
Honestly, you don't have enough length to see real progress. I think it would look a lot worse(i don't think it looks bad at all now) if you backcombed. They will stick up all over the place and instead of birds nest, it will be a rats nest. Either way you go your hair will be "messy" for a long time. I would say, fuck the high school and don't do a thing differently. Just wear your naturally messy with pride.
I'm just slightly worried. I don't give a damn what other people say, never have really. Yea, I guess I'll hold off.
Dude your going back to highscool. You really give a fuck what you look like in front of a bunch of kids?
A girl in the high school here had cancer (by the time she graduated, she was unable to attend and her dad got the diploma for her). Her teacher told her she needed to wear a hat, even though she had bone cancer. Hat rules are weird, there really needs to be some forsight into these things.
Yeah, backcombing really doesn't get rid of those problems. Your hair will still looks bleh to you then if it does now. I know it was the same for me. Now, it's different. I just totally let my hair go only to rip them apart and I love it. I rarely look in the mirror before I go do anything. It's great. It's the process of letting go that takes the longest. The dreads will come, that's the easy part. Your hair is really short yet. Give it a few more months to gain some length and you should see start to see some significant progress. For you it's still about length. You really should just focus on letting go now while your hair is short. You think it's messy now... Just wait a while and you will see how knotted and messy it gets. It's all a part of the process. They wouldn't be dreadlocks without it.
