The much bigger issue here is not that there was intelligence that suggested Saddam had WMD; but rather, there was considerable contrary intelligence suggesting otherwise. Not only did this administration consistently demonstrate a staggering level of wooden-headedness in ignoring opinions that differed with its mind-set, it also went forward with intelligence that was clearly debunked before it reached Bush's State of the Union address. Saddam was an "imminent" threat, to a "serious" threat, to a "gathering" threat, to finally one who given the chance to get out from under U.N. sanctions could once again start toward becoming a threat. And Bush has had a consistent position on Iraq? This administration told us that we needed to take out Saddam immediately because he "not only has WMD, but we know where they are," according to Rumsfeld. Then when the weapons were not found, we took out Saddam because he was a bad man. And Bush has had a consistent position on Iraq? I suppose Bush has had one position on Iraq; he was gunning for him long before 9/11 occurred. Oedipus must kill his father. I have no idea where you get the absurd notion that Democrats (or liberals, or the left) were on the wrong side of history about WWII or anything else you have said. FDR--Democrat, right? Perhaps you are right. Vote Republican--It's easier than thinking.
No, he doesn't take both sides, he agreed Saddam was a threat he just didn't think we needed to jump into the war..stop listening to the Republican propaganda and do some research yourself..I cant trust someone who takes us to war based on LIES and untruths..and don't start on me saying, we should have went to war, that's just bullshit, Iraq didn't attack us, you heard I'm sure the weapons inspectors report also, if you say they are glad to be rid of Saddam that is correct, but they view us as intruders, and they do NOT want us there, with us there patrolling everything, all the massive shit that has went on there, I wouldn't want us there either..we stirred up a hornets nest by going over there I dont see how anyone can't see that..and I don't see how you can say this war was RIGHT when it was so wrong. Oh, and before you call me UNAMERICAN For saying that, I said the war is wrong, i firmly believe that..But, I do support our troops, and I hope they come home safely. I will support them just not this war.!
Because I'm not really in the mood to jump in here wholeheartedly, I'll just snipe at this. I'm in an anti-tank unit of the 112th Infantry. We've been training with outdated TOW missile launchers mounted on humvees. When we get deployed we will not be using either the weapon or the vehicle. We will have anti-tank configurated Strykers. They have not been delivered yet since they are brand new technology. We should start seeing them within the next couple of years. But technology builds on itself and basic anti-tank tactics remain relatively static. To say that because I train with a unit that does not have the equipment that will be used in actual combat implies I am avoiding conflict is ridiculous. I'll most likely go to the middle east, and I'll be better prepared for having trained with these near-obsolete systems than if I hadn't trained at all and waited for the newest equipment. You say you served, Cyberfly, but I'm doubtful. -Atlas

You insult my service? Good thing I don't really give a shit what you think. I'm not going to talk about that because I have a "secret" security level and unlike you I was on ACTIVE Duty. Another good reason for me not to give out any personal information is because snotty pigs like you tend to use it in mean spirited ways. Someone gives there opinion and you reply with snotty sarcasm. Well, your sarcasm is not to inspiring either sweet heart.:H Yep, that sounds like King George's All New International Guard. I think America was a lot more safe with Clinton's professional military.
I'm not insulting your service, I'm doubting it. If it's real, I wouldn't insult it, but I guess we'll conveniently never know. It's a good thing you don't care what I think. If you did, you'd probably cry. And I'd probably feel bad about that. Actually cupcake, my sarcasm may inspire a grammatically and punctuationally challenged individual to not contradict himself in a mere two sentences. Are you saying I'm not a professional??? Are you also denigrating the National Guard? Who's insulting who's service? -Atlas
No offense Atlas. All I am saying is that you are living proof that under King George's rulership, military standards have continued to deteriorate.
Michael: if you really think Bush is God you're just nuts and why should anyone listen to a nut? In fact, if you really think "Bush is God," then I hope you don't go to Church because that's blasphemy, isn't it? And if you think Kerry is Satan than that's crazy as well, and I'm not sure you're even compitent enough to vote.
It amazes me that most hippies are brave enough to put their life on the line and face the cops in protesting unecessary war but are afraid of walking into a voting booth and voting against the guy the started it.
I just don't know how to respond to this. Bush is "into it"? Of course we still have to vote...Even when we think it will not make a difference in the outcome. The act of voting is always important.
Sounds like someone woke up on the ignorant side of the bed. Don't fret, it's hard to take offense when someone makes completely unqualified judgements like that. It's even harder when that someone makes them all the time. -Atlas
not when we hear it or see it from soldiers..I think he has a valid point, and yes, i know soldiers in the war before you go judging me
He doesn't have a valid point at all, throwing aside the absolutely invalid insult towards me. What standards are we talking about here? Military standards? Ethical standards? Intellectual standards? Nothing in such a casual, knee-jerk comment could possibly warrant the label "valid." -Atlas
Whatever Atlas. Just remember me when your unit gets overrun by insurgents. Have fun clown, it should be a hell of a party.
