I shave because I feel good this way, not because almost everybody in my country does it. I really like to feel my skin soft.
This thread should be moved. Well, not really, but I do want to know how this is thought of as a women's issue. Guys shave, girls shave. Shave! It's fun!
because it's a women's issue, it is here. it is a women's issue because a lot of women feel it's unnatural to shave, etc. it is a hippie forum, after all.
*stands up and claps* The world needs more people like you. I find not shaving to be the most empowering thing I could do. I went to my prom not shaved, it was wonderful. I got some many looks when I lifted up my arms to dance and those looks made me dance more.
I hate shaving, its such a hassle. I do like the smooth skin, but when I think that I have to keep doing it over and over. Thats when I get really irritated, if I didn't like the feel I would stop shaving. But I do love the winter when no one sees my legs, I usually just let it go. You can't really tell cause I am blonde unless you start touching my legs. Tiffany
I have never heard that before. Its like a total shock for me. I hate makeup, I never wear it. I think I am fine the way I am. Although I don't mind putting on a little eye shadow and mascara, but other then that I hate it. It feels so gross wearing a ton of make up. I feel like every inch of my face is screaming WHY"D YOU PUT THIS ON ME!! I can't stand the feel of makeup, to me I think it is equal to puking on yourself. Tiffany
about a month or so ago i stopped shaving entirely. i feel great and i'm so damn angry that i waited so long to stop. it bothers me that i felt so forced, not from any person directly, but from magazines, conversations, perceived preferences in my partners. it makes me sad and angry to find out that people think i'm dirty for not shaving. how ridiculous. my boyfriend is very supportive and thinks it's slightly silly for me to worry so much about shaving or not shaving. how refreshing
i LOVE makeup. i don't wear it all the time, but i usually go for something incredibly flamboyant when i wear it. it's fun! it's like mardi gras whenever i want. i've also always wanted to be a drag queen.
Well done. Glad you've got a b/f who is supportive- there's quite a few natural hair supporters out there.
I agree. And I found a guy who didn't mind if I didn't shave my legs and was fine with my sexy womanly hairy bush. I think the men who cannot except the hair are just little materialistic boys. But I shave my legs now because I like how it feels. But I really love my bush. and I rarley shave the pits.
Hope it's OK for me (being a man) to post here in women's issues. I think many people without even realizing it are swayed in how they think my commercialism. They continually bombard you with, how you should look. I prefer natural. Here's a pic of a woman who's not let herself be pressured into conforming: http://goddessheart.com/Estar.htm I think she's beautiful Peace
I can't read feminism. Women look good and I will want to root them. Women will try to look good to the extent that they will gain benefit from me wanting to root them. I don't see how this is an issue. If you don't want to dress up, don't. I'll still root you anyway.
If I may add my two cents.... I just want to say I think that shaving is a disgusting habit. If I wanted a hairless woman, I'd look for one in an elementary school.
