    Hello All!

I'm an undergraduate from the University of California, Berkeley currently doing an ethnography on homosexuals and transexuals and the role of cosmetics in their lives. I would really appreciate some help from those of you who are willing to answer some of the following questions. No names will be used, no identities disclosed, and if anyone is particularly uncomfortable in posting answers as part of this message, please don't hesitate to message me your answers. Your participation in this study is greatly appreciated.

    Ready?

    Questions:
    1. As a transexual in America, are you comfortable using cosmetics/make-up?
    2. Do you use cosmetics/make-up?
    3. If YES,
    - Why did you begin to use cosmetics/make-up?
    - When did you begin to use them?
    - Do you still use them?
    4. If NO,
    - Why not?
    - Have you ever, at any point in your life, tried to use cosmetics/make-up?
    5. What does "sexuality" mean to you? How is it defined?
    6. Growing up, did the active employment of material objects (i.e. clothing, accessories, make-up) aid in the development and reaffirmation of your sexuality? If yes, what kind of material culture influenced your sexuality?
    7. Please confirm that you are 18 and above to participate in this study. :)

For all of you who have taken the time to answer, thank you so much. I'm conducting this research study to gain a deeper understanding of the interplay between commodities and self-identity (in this case, sexuality). If you have any questions about me (I do welcome personal questions as well, I understand it can be quite intimidating and creepy to be answering questions from a complete stranger) and my study, contact me! I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can!
