If you heard both Indian and Arabic music, but you don't speak either language, which music do you like better? Who are your favorite artists?

I do quite like Arabic music despite not understanding what is being said.

Im a big fan of Cheb Mami (probably best known for his part in desert rose with Sting)

I tend to like the instrumentation and role of drums in Indian/Pakistani music (not bollywood stuff).
I like music from all over the globe.

I like Indian and Arabic instrumental music ... the vocal not so much. Maybe it's because I just don't understand the language, I dunno.

I like arabic vocals and love indian instruments. I don't understand the language neither unfortunately.

I have a friend who is Saudi ... she told me that Arabic music is very emotional. She would listen to songs and just weep over them ...

She tried to explain the songs to me, but I didn't get it. You have to be Arab to understand, I guess. She didn't "get" Mozart, either.

I prefer Indian classical instrumental. I'm not sure about names of artists other Ravi Shankar or his daughter Anushka (sp??). Some of the Hindi chants can be soothing to listen too as well.
India music Online (google it) lets you stream all kinds of Indian music for free.

Anoushka is fabulous. I think she's even better than her father.

She has pretty much taken over his concerts the last several years, but for how old he is, Ravi can still play.

No, I saw Ravi in Santa Barbara on two different occasions. The first time (~2002) was mostly Ravi with a little Anoushka and the second time (2006) was almost all Anoushka.
