Hehe, I used to write fanfiction and post it on fanfiction.net, and ditto on the you can't read it thing. It's probably so crap. Most of it was written years ago. There's this one fanfiction that I'm currently finishing with the help of another writer because I left it half finished a few years ago and a lot of people really want it finished. I'm toying with the idea of writing some Lost fanfiction...
Argh.... Lost got messed up when it went past survival... Now its just A typical soap only on an island and with a large budget. If you feel creative why not write something new? Not necesarily a long book, but fanfiction is just urgh.
I've got you beat. I write EROTIC fanfiction. And I'm not ashamed of it! I don't even mind sharing if anybody's interested. I'm a 25-year-old married veteran with a kid. So it's not just teenage girls with no life. Mainly Harry Potter stuff (yep, MEGA dork here). I'm working on a Harry/Molly story right now that was a challenge by another writer. I have 12 stories published right now, 3 Harry Potter, 3 originals, and 4 randoms.
You rock my world. I have written Star Wars fiction, Star Trek fiction (though never published), Halloween fiction, and most recently a Kingdom Hospital fiction and a Doug fiction. KH because it shouldn't have ended with one season and I had a wicked idea for season 2 (so in essence, I'm writing it myself to fill the void for myself and others), and Doug just basically because I wanted to mess with its Pleasantville-ness (Roger has a rock band and an alcohol problem, Judy failed as an actress and ended up living in a commune, then left when it got all stupid and returned home a broken woman- they end up together in the end, lol). I actually have quite a following, though rereading my older stuff that's up right now is really painful for me... Meh. It's a hobby. I don't claim to be a great writer, really. If I had any kind of originality, I wouldn't need to depend on other plots to expand on. At the very least I can write well enough to entertain other dorks.
I'm doing it to build up my writing skills and get practice, basically. I have a few ideas for novels, but my writing is definitely not at the level it needs to be for a published book. So I'm taking writing-heavy classes in college and practicing by reading and writing unpublished stories so I can better appreciate the difference between the quality and style of published vs unpublished writing. Plus I like stories about sex between my favorite characters.
Haha, I actually did write a Lost fanfiction today. Just a short one. And yeah, like you say MunaJadida, it's a good way to build up writing skills and such. I'm working on a novel that I swear is gonna take me the rest of my life. Only one of the books contains 14 year olds. The books range from the ages of 11 to 18. Mine usually run around the age of 16-17 because that's when most people start having sex.
MunaJadida, I think it's cool you write erotic fanfiction! Don't let anyone get down on you about it! I personally don't write erotic stuff, and don't often read it, mainly because a lot of it is written by 12 years olds who've never had sex, but I'm sure yours is good! Do you post it anywhere on the net?
