I just had a baby 4months ago and 2months ago I started my dreads. I love them so but am worried as I'm noticing around my hairline that I'm loosing quite a bit of hair :( I know that after you have a baby you start to lose your hair as your hormones are all over the place. I'm not sure whether it's the dreads that is causing this though. They don't feel tight or anything but I am so worried! I've started using a cinnamon shampoo bar from LUSH as it's supposed to encourage hair growth. At the moment it's not noticable to anyone but me but I'm super worried it will get worse. I don't know what I'd do. Has anyone else had this problem? It's getting me a bit down :(

don't worry. you are beautiful and a bit of hair loss isn't going to change that. i doubt the dreads are causing it, it happens sometimes and you seem to have a great deal of hair on your head to make up for a little loss in the front. it might even grow back... if you think your dreads are pulling back on your forehead and causing the hair loss then keep them up so they don't weigh down the delicate hairs in front.

  3. They sell vitamins that help a lot too, like at GNC, but if you're against vitamins, make sure you keep an eye on your diet, sometimes malnutrition can increase hair loss.

It will be down to the hormones :)
Honestly Luxie your gorgeous, that won't change it at all, give it time and like zilla said, tie up your hair if you think it will help :)

I'm not against vitamins, maybe I'll get some. I'm not sure if it's balding or just thinning. Before I dreaded my hair it was so thick though. I may ask the hairdressers or at a health shop, but you know what hairdressers are like when it comes ti dreads, they hate them!

thanx for that. I was wondering if it happened to anyone else. when I was in LUSH the other day the worker there told me that she'd had dreads and was balding a lil in some parts so suggested that shampoo bar. I just started ripping them too so maybe that will even up the weight?

My hair fell out like CRAZY after I had my babies.
    I blame it on nursing.
Aside from that you gotta take into consideration that your dreads are pulling hairs out at the roots, your ripping and messing with em .... you know you are. ;)
So it may seem like your balding cause your seeing scalp in between your dreads.
Soon that'll fill in with fuzz and make new dreads tho :)

yeah I'm nursing, I plan on doing it for a year though. Hope I don;t lose it all! I don't mess with them too much tbh and don't rip if it hurts. Have you got dreads? x

    I do.
I didn't when they were babies tho.
I nursed for 3 years strait, that takes a lot out of you no matter what you do.
But ya, I think you you pull up some of these threads that have 1 month
pics and 1 and 2 year pics, you'll see everyone goes thru that baldish hairline phase.

thanx mama, you make me feel a lot better :) *sigh of relief* nursing for 3 years, that is some dedication! It's amazing but a difficult full time job. Hard to take it away when they love it so much and it's such a comfort for them and soothes them. thanx for you words :peace:

for sure. everyone needs vitamins, but a nursing mother does more than anyone else... and a bald Luxie would be a great tragedy.

Rosemary's good for stimulating the scalp, and it also gradually darkens the hair as well. So if you want to do something about the henna you asked about (which looks good in the pics, btw) it'll prob help a bit.

I'm extremely healthy and my baby is doing great thank you very much. I'm not taking vitamins except vit C atm as many are not allowed while nursing! So I'm eating fresh fruits and veg as my main diet to get as much nutrients as I can. I am doing a great job as a new Mother my baby is happy and healthy. So please, piss off with your unnecassary comments, you have no idea.
