Who plays? it could be fun to set up a small online game.... with my fucked up predator dragon deck... or my fucked up auriok blade warden deck.... or my fucked up evil eye of orms by gore deck....
i played in high school...during and afterschool was the alternative to playing chess, though i played chess quite a bit too haha i've never played online...and i haven't kept up with changes, if any, over hte years to the game
i've never played. to my knowledge i've never met anyone who has ever played. thus, i don't really even know what the concept of the game is. but based on my very limited knowledge of it and some uneducated guessing, it seems like something i could really get into.
I once traded ALL of my magic cards for ONE 1st Edition Charizard Pokemon Card I sold that thing on eBay and bought a Go Ped and those fucking cards were sitting under my bed for months....years... yay yayee!
I've got 5000+ cards, ranging from beta, to shards of alara. in the midst of that I have some REALLY fucked up, overpowered, banned as fuck cards.
see, this is what i never understood...TBH, i never really looked into the reasons why... why have cards that are banned? why even make them?
in the original mode of the game, they thought it was super cool to make REALLY powerful cards (power nine, molten hydra, etc.) but, then they realized, that without access to these old cards, new players couldn't compete and would become discouraged. so, they banned certain cards, for certain types of tournaments there are tournaments with no banned cards, and only 20 banned cards, some of the cards I use fit in that 20 banned category, some of them are widely banned, but their loss does not break my strategy, so I still like them, they speed shit up. not to mention it's cool when someone is like "zomg you have that?!?!"
yep, bans just apply to formal play you can use banned cards as much as you want out of tournament. (I usually take mine out unless the person I am playing against has banned cards too)
I have a friend that used to play it, but we ridicule him so much for it that I don't think he'd ever dare flip his magic cards out in front of us. He did have his revenge though, when he changed our laptop desktops to a picture of his jacking off.
I have nothing against fantasy card games, just the ones where you have to buy more and more. Not sure if that's the case with this game, seeing people buy more and more sets put me off and so I never tried it.
I always wanted the two nerds at my grade to show me how to play it. I dont call them nerds in a derogatory way, they were my friends, it's just that's what they were. They would say "it's too complicated". Which would piss me off, because I was smarter than both of them.
My memnarch/artifact deck will desimate all. Be thankful my elf deck grew legs and walked off.... I"m down for a game once my internet gets turned back on.
