I have read this a couple of times on the net, I just don't know if it's true or not. Anybody know anything about this? I sure hope not....

Sounds like you need to take some morphine to put that worry to rest! I've read that it can cause changes in the brain, but damage...no. Opiates aren't toxic to any of our tissues. They're just soooo good and addictive! Overdoses occur because the part of our brain that controls breathing is rich with opiate receptors. Alcohol can cause brain damage, though. You're safer with the morphine!

I'm sure there are easier and safer ways. In controlled doses, morphine is considered by doctors to be among the safest of drugs.

opiates by themselves, not mixed with the likes of APAP, ibuprofen, etc, are harm-free on the body long term. They present overdose dangers in high dosages, but in terms of damaging the body, they are totally safe. can't say the same about ALOT of different things.

^Not exactly. Long term opiate use in PM patients has been known to cause MORE pain.
