I don't get it, is this basically a "favorite dead songs" thread? Scarlet Begonias, Sugar Magnolia, Friend of the Devil, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider, Mountains of the Moon, Touch of Grey, Help on the Way>Slipknot!, Franklin's Tower, Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven>Feedback
no its not just about what your favorite...its about putting songs together that compliment eachother...what would segue well...i will have to think about this and get back to you...i want to look up some keys and see what would musically flow really well...
uh, the dead played all different kinds of songs in concert and a lot of time would have no idea what song they would play next. the songs wouldn't have to be in the same key unless they were going to be flowed into each other (one right after the other hence the ">"). no offense but i think only the OP can answer my question on what they made the thread for. but imo my favorite dead songs would make the perfect dead set, i don't understand how it could be otherwise.
yes, but the dead (specifically Jerry and Phil) would plan out sets. i can answer the question. i have made these threads about phish shows myself. so i don't understand, you want all dead shows to be like a "Greatest hits"? with all your favorites every time? how would ever get a chance to experience and enjoy other songs that you have yet to "get"? how would your pallet mature? i use to be obsessed with tracks like "St. Steven" and "Casey Jones"....these days i would say my favorites are tracks like "crazy fingers" and "weather report". its nice to hear those old favorites, but a Dead show, like Phish shows is about being exposed to new things. a good set is the set you least expect.
yeah, i guess. i remember after making my first post that i remembered i liked so many more too. in fact, i probably like them all. however, i do have favorites. my favorites may change and probably will but i do like them all, a lot.
