do alot of employers actually check your job references? i mean i dont really have enough experience to make a guess
Yep...a lot of them do. It's not something to sweat about. Don't list your crackhead friends as references and it should all work out.
Get good at disguising your voice as a distinguished older gentleman. Get a second cell phone and put that down as the number for your old 'boss'. Problem solved.
Yes, I tried to get a new job and wasn't hired because they contacted my old boss. The reason was because I didn't give a two week notice and quit over the phone. It was bs.
nahh they just lookit over see where you've worked to check and see if you've got some sort of knowledge about the job then they hire u because you've called damn 10 times just checking to see if anyone has looked at your app.
I found that out because my friend was a manager where I was trying to get a job. And I don't think it was a valid reason I was qualified and everything.
for clarification, i was actually self employed..... but the whole website business isnt really booming
I have applied for dozens of jobs over the years and a lot of them have called the first reference I listed, but none of them have ever called any of the others. My first reference is usually very good so this probably helps.
If they really need employers, they won't make a fuss about references. If there aren't too many employers for the job to compete with, then you'll be fine.
Yes, they do. I guess it depends what you are applying for. I have one of my old bosses who adored me, and my best friend who is very articulate. she pretends to have been a co-manager with me when we worked in the same place. lol
You'd be surprised how many actually don't. Most of them want to judge you on how come across in the interview. References are pretty much worthless anyway as they can only be checked after they have offered you a job. Most job these days have trial periods so if you turn out to be not up too job then they can sack you more easily, and that is probably the main reason why they also check references, so that they are more justified in terminating your employment.
depends on the job you're applying for. flipping burgers, probably not. lawyer, probably. but i don't think it's a sure thing either way no matter what you're applying for. i know i've been called by restaurants who were considering hiring my ex-employees as waitresses.
Just put down http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=51 as a reference. We'll give you the thumbsup...
Listen, it's all about confidence. You go right up to that boss and say, "Do you wanna fuck, or do I owe you an apology?" It's important to establish dominance early.
