My son hasn't been pooping much since I introduced solids, like only once every three days or so, and even then it's only a little bit.

He doesn't seem uncomfortable, but should I be worried? What should I do?

That's pretty normal I think-though it's been a few years for me. Pay attention what his poo looks like the next time he does it-is it hard balls or normal consistency? Is he straining to get it out? Are you still breastfeeding? Maybe nurse more often to see if it regulates it...How old is he-6 months or so?

I'm still breastfeeding, and he's five and a half months. His poo has seemed slightly thicker than usual but I assume that's fairly normal with the solids being introduced? He doesn't seem like he's straining.

A friend of mine suggested mixing brown sugar with warm water and feeding it to him - actually two friends suggested it. What does this do? And how much should I give him?

What foods did you feed him? Always look at poo consistency and frequency when assessing whether baby is sensitive to something. A normal once a day pooper only having rabbit pellets once every three days is a sign that something didn't agree with him!

But if you're nursing him, it's still a soft consistency, and he's not straining, don't do anything besides what you are already doing. Brown sugar in water is something I've never heard of, but I know more sugar than you need is dehydrating and can zap you of nutrients, and it's almost as addicting as cocaine, so I wouldn't advise giving a baby sugar for any reason!

Maybe give him Prunes! Moire loved prunes and it always made her poo so lovingly for me. LOL!

how is his appetite? if he isnt eating as much as he usually does, then he could have some constipation. since the poops are a bit harder than usual. i would just give him more foods and drinks that help you go. some apple juice.

And if you're giving him rice cereal, I recommend you stop. It's known to act as saw dust in babies' bellies (just a filler, no real value) and can cause constipation.

Oh yeah, must concur with Sugrmag! Cereal is just like wallpaper paste in a kiddo's stomach and I know my kiddo never pooed right if I tried that nasty stuff!
