I think I have only posted 1 other photograph of my dreads on here which was about 1 year ago now & last night my friend took a couple of photographs so I thought I might as well post an update on my journey.

Nice, I like them. Just a question do you still enjoy them after all these years? I seem to go through phases. I had thoughts about cutting a while back. Right now though those thoughts have disappeared again and I right now I can't imagine cutting them, heading towards six years at the moment. They look nice and long though. Good stuff... :D

Lovely long dreads.
Hope mine will end up that length one day. How did you start them - backcomb? natural? other?

Thanks :). Six years? That is impressive. I know what you mean by going through the phases, I think it is a natural thing to have urges for change every now and then but I just remind myself that it has taken years to grow them & cutting them could be a huge regret (I have talked to quite a few people that used to have dreads and all of them have regretted cutting them off but they can't be bothered starting over again since it does take a lot of time & patience). I did meet 1 guy though who had extremely thick, long dreads and he only had about 7 of them because he had to cut most of his front ones off due to the weight & pull of the dreads receding his hairline (he was only in his early 20s). That did get me a bit worried & would probably be my only reason for cutting them (I would like to have hair at the front of my head for when I'm older haha). I tie my dreads back 99% of the time as well so that adds even more pull [IMG].

Thanks neverknow :). I back combed them once then went natural from there. No further back combing or waxes etc.

Yes this is a very good point, and I really don't want to know how I would look without dreads...... Very weird probably....

Can we see some shirtless pictures? For dread viewing purposes of course.

Merrivale: I don't like to think about having short hair either, I think even more so it'd be the feeling of being a different person somewhat...my dreads have become a part of my personality, spirituality, lifestyle & in some of my friends words my "trademark" so cutting them off would be more than just a big physical change. Do you have any photographs of your dreads?

MoonDoggie: Hahahah, I don't have any shirtless photographs (for dread viewing purposes) unfortunately but thats probably a good thing so people on this site don't get blinded by my skinny white body LoL :ack2:

WorldPeace & Glacius: Thanks for the comments [IMG]

Thanks for the comments mamamojo & mariecstasy [IMG]

enayes: It has definitely been a cool journey growing them. One of the main reasons I wanted to have dreads was so that as I grew as a person they'd grow with me & be a constant reminder that patience is a virtue.
