Greetings~!!! Well let's see...it's pretty basic...hoping for advice from people on Florida...and the "natural, hippie type culture" that may or may not be there.... A friend of mine has found a job offer in Florida...around Sarasota/Bradenton Area... and has asked me to come along for a few months, possibly more. My curiousities are mainly....about the scene in that area of Florida... as far as if you are into certain things..have a certain type of lifestyle you prefer..etc. I'm a modern "hippie" chick... ...dreads to my butt...very organic natural living...herb smoker...healthy eater....nature/animal lover...extremely liberal....."kind?"...very much into my spiritual path...etc. So...I truly would love to hear from anyone about Florida, or specifically the area I mentioned. Is it tough to find some good herbs...is it tough to find some kind folk to mingle with now and then.... I read on one forum about drum circles..would love to know more about that... Are there farmer's markets or health food stores in the areas I mentioned or near by? I sound clue-less I realize....truth is I lived in West Palm Beach for about a year when I was younger...and I recall feeling quite lonely as far as kind people went or any aspect of the life-style..... herbs where tough to come by as well..but I finally figured something out... but for the most part..alot of snooty people surrounded me..and my time was spent largely alone. If I'm in for the same ball game so to speak..then I plan on turning down the offer to head over to Florida... I've lived all over this country...and right now I'm in a big city and would very much love to be more so around nature..the beach..etc...but not at the price of feeling utterly alone, herbless, and surrounded by people who look down upon me. So please...any info, advice etc. would be helpful....and anyone in that area who would like to conversate...hit me up..drop me a line. Peace, Love and Light. Namaste~!! Blessings. Well...I'm live in Ft.Myers, Sarasota's one of our neighbors ^^. In my area herbs and mushrooms an stuff like that are rare. In Sarasota not many people are into drugs, I think. People love their beach, a quite natural one at that. Let me tell you one thing though,-- Sarasota's infested with us Germans. . Say hi to my crush there, lol.
Cool....thanks for the info ryupower.... I don't personally consider herb a "drug" myself.....and have yet to find any town or place where noone at all was a herb lover. Germans are cool...no issues there either... Again..thanks for the advice. Peace~
..The Sarasota area is a bigger percentage of older people. many move there to retire. But there is always someone or somewhere that has what you need. Florida is just way to populated with many from everywhere. You should try Fort Lauderdale where I am. Cream of the crop down here!!
There are times when the herb is hard to find here. I live about 30 miles from Sarasota. It has been about 2 1/2 weeks sence my friends and I have been able to find any. There has been alot of bust around here about 3-4 weeks ago. All of Florida is a retirement heaven. So don't worry about that. There are smokers all around.
Ok, I lived in Florida a couple years back. Not Sarasota but north florida. Tallahassee to be exact. But I have family in the Tampa/St.Pete area. There is a health food store called Wild Oats in Pinecrest Florida which is a little north of tampa I think. As far as a scence of hippies and stuff there may be some in the tampa area but scattered. There isn't any one place or area where hippies hang out. But they are around. In my expierence they tend to be more dressed up hippies. Hippies are all over florida but you have to seek them kinda. Sarasota is reitrement community and if you lookin for herbs your probably have to go into Tampa or St.Pete unless you know some rich person. Sarasota is a rich area. I'd say go ahead and make the move. You'll have some good beach stories and you never know you might have some good hippie fun down there. Good luck Sean
