Has any1 on here read any of his books. where would be a good place to start. very interested in qabbalah, practical magick aswell as just philisophical stuff and the inner journey etc. striving towards enlightenment. all with the purest of intentions any other authors worth reading on similar line of thought ?? already have some of Eliphas Levis' work. thanks
I think the best way to study Kaballah is to begin from its very source, i.e. through reading Jewish mystics, because (almost) all other versions of it take root there anyway and sometimes are, deliberately or by ignorance, very much distorted or, worse still, oversimplified. As for Mr. Crowley himself, well, I would better say nothing
And, alas, a lot more bombastic, boring, & hypocritical. But I am not going to blame him anyway. Victorian England, where he grew up, was utterly terrible in some aspects. http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/religion/aleister-crowley/
Don't waste your time with Crowley. He was an overhyped, psychotic dirtbag that loved himself above all else. Is that the type of person you want to learn from?
who knows what this guy did to me but never ever read holy books of thelema. the pain... the horror...
I had a couple of his books a while back when I was in highschool (haha..), Never read all of it, I remember it ws pretty interesting though. Pretty far out kinda guy huh? lol XD
That's the least of it. He was considered "the wickedest man in the world". You don't attain a title like that for just being misunderstood. The man was into all kinds of disgusting behaviors that I don't have the stomach to mention right now. The guy was into perversion for the sake of itself, and I'll leave it there. Find another role model.
Crowley was a great man, and you have much to learn from him. This is where you start: http://ordoaa.org/grade0.htm http://ordoaa.org/syll0.htm I also recommend Franz Bardon, Plato, hp blavatsky and the Theosophical society , Fuller, Dee, Hurtak; Perennial Tradition , St. Germain and the Ascended Master teachings.
