I've got a degree in physics from one of the most prestigious departments in the world, and I've not got shit apart from what's in my head. I'm on the minimum wage pretty much, so getting a degree does not guarantee you a high paid job. Most people I know who are academically succesful aren't raking it in either, so there is no money to be made in blue sky research anymore, sadly, and I'm fucked if I'm submitting myself to being a part of the rat race. I went to university and studied physics because I had a passion for science, and the system did a good job of driving that out of me. Should have left school when I was 18 and went for a career selling mobile phones...
I'm not calling you in particular a self-important biggot and I never claimed not to be one myself. I'm one of the biggest assholes here. Self-proclaimed and all. You shouldn't have felt the need to explain yourself, I understand plenty well why people go to college and why I should do the same, the only reason I'm not is life has handed me a lot of tough breaks and it just hasn't been in my cards yet. Maybe one of these days.
Well, there were only two people on here talking aboutgoing to the college so it certainly seemed like you were at least implying that I was a self important biggot. The reason why I felt the need to say something was because I wanted you to know that I dont go to college to learn about whats important in life, like you put it in your post. But, I wish you the best of luck and hope one day you will be able to go to college.
I think more or less, I was probably calling Pavel a self-important biggot because you know, he is one. And he knows he is one. And it's all good in tha hood.
And hey, what's wrong with community college? I received a degree from a community/technical college and I'm the smartest man alive!
Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see. You have all the reason to go do some research for the sake of knowing what you know, not what some guy told you he knows.
The knocking of community college bullshit should really stop. They are not all the same, there are some excellent community colleges, and there are some shitty universities, as well as private schools for that matter. There are also intelligent graduates of community colleges, just as there are real dumbasses that sailed through university without ever really learning a damn thing. Furthermore, your level of education doesn't mean shit when it comes to what you REALLY know in this world, it's all what you choose to invest in life that makes a difference in the end. And this is not directed at the OP, by the way. The community college thing is for Pavel, and I respect you for your opinion, but I certainly don't agree with it in this case.
