I've had my dreads (I did them myself) for about 6 months now, and i used the wax method with products from Knotty Boy. I've seen a lot of negativity towards wax and it'd be nice to know the proper way to touch up dreads without the use of wax. But that's not my main concern. I began with Knotty Shampoo Bar and I was wondering if there is a better shampoo than that one. If not, has anyone tried their liquid one? I think I'm leaning towards that next. Thanks.
i used the kboy 'poo bar, and sometimes it felt like it made me skin greasy.. not my hair (i luuuuurve the way it smells,, ive still got some and it makes my room smell naice) i found it cleaned my dreads fine, but i had to really rinse and rinse and rinse again or it'd dry and id get flakies =[ lots of people on here would say dr bronners,, ive never tried it so i cant offer any advice about it
Yeah, a lot of people will say Bronner's, but I've used it and it left a residue on my scalp/in my dreads no matter what I did...(added baking soda, added an acidic liquid to balance out the effects of 'hard water')...I'm looking for something new...anyone have any reccomendations?
try dr. bronners if you get any residue problems from Kboy(hell dont even buy Kboy stuff since it funds that friggen company) if for some strange reason it isn't working for you and your hair, you can still use it for a ton of other things and since you dilute it it will last forever. baking soda recipes are great too, a number of members here use different non-residue shampoo and they seem to be doing fine with theirs as well. btw, have you ceased the use of wax?
Once again I would strongly reccomend against Bronner's...it left this greyish gunk/spackle-like residue in some of my dreads and a filmy/waxy residue on the outside sometimes...there other members here that have experienced the same thing.
and there are other members that use it and it works fine. it still has uses outside of washing your hair if its leaving residue in your hair.
Yeah, but I also don't think a lot of members have checked their dreads to see if any residue has been left in them...If it leaves residue in some people's hair it could happen to the OP and that's just a fair warning.
I use DreadheadHQ, and have had a couple of problems with dandruff. I stupidly bought another bottle before this current bought of flakies What other problems have people had with DHHQ?
I tried Dr. B a few days ago and it worked well. I think the trick is how much you use. If you dilute it 12 pts water 1 pt Dr. B you should be fine. Personally I just take a small amount in my hand and rub it in. Using too much will definitely leave a residue; but it doesn't work for everyone.
it is ratio based, but yeah, the shampoo drips out in single drips so pea sized is about right. i use cherry size personally, but its mixed in a big jug with 12-18 parts water and other stufff in the jug too.
xD I seee ^^ Are the Dr.B bars any good? I'm thinking about getting one, maybe a tea tree one? I've heard good things about tea tree xD
