let's scrub out "error" and replace it with "hiccup in the space/time continuum" :sifone: Phew! And I was afraid it was about to topple over.
Hmm....It might be more credible that the femminine preceded the masculine. Unless you're suggesting that the prototype 'adam' was hermaphrodite? I think that's why this whole adam and eve business does have a sexist undertone. Certainly, it has been used historically to supress and control women, and to exclude them from positions of power within christian , jewish and islamic heirarchies. Also, this interpretation seems to fall apart if you continue the story to Eve's eating of the apple. It just doesn't make sense if Eve represents the physical world. What then does the serpent represent? And the tree?
I have read certain texts that portray adam and eve as creations of the gods. There were 7 versions of adam before the got it right and yes the erly versions were hermaphrodite and without soul. eve, if I recall was referred to as the teacher and was hated by the rulers of heaven and and they tried to defoul her in every way. But before they could she had disguised herself and left a likness of the angels in her place. The defouled this replacement so fouly and she created thier offspring. Humans were described by them as worms of the earth, soul-less creatures, who rise and fall like the pheonix. Live - die - just to live again. Very interesting read of jealousy and wickedness of the rulers of heaven becuase humans were created as beings of light and could procreate themselves.
Is Adam the Nature, or is Eve the Nature? Or is all that failing to understand human understanding realizing at best the Copies of nature (as truly existing for the passage of Time from the Beginning conceived via god's spririt). Copying nature is the composition of triangular type figures; is there a centre of the Universe? Polarized It is: Adam = spirit OR Eve = spirit It also realizes that (ADAM) ~= (EVE).
Eve is creation by the human spirit, Adam. The two are not actually seperate. All that Eve is, is from Adam. All that Adam is, is from the creator God. Again, not seperate. Just stepped down like a power transformer. Eve takes the shape of whatever Adam dreams up. Each individual is an Eve, with an Adam power supply. She is the clay. He is the animating spirit. The serpent is also Eve. It represents the human mind. The apple is the attraction of the world. Eve is the creation, and she's busy keeping you interested in her. You must become a male to see the kingdom. You must let Eve go and dwell among other men. Of course gender has nothing to do with this in reality, but now you undertand the symbolism of it. x
By today's standards I'd have to say; yes, they did incest. But at the time there was no prohibition on what we now call incest. That prohibition came later when mankind was farther from perfection and mating with close relatives had become more problematic.
Well, it is a story isn't it? A creation story. One that was ancient before anybody ever wrote it down. It doesn't belong to the bible. I say the serpent is Eve because the concept of what a Christ is, belongs to this world as an idea. It resides in the mind unti it becomes realized. A seed. Realization, "enlightenment" is the transforming from Eve back into Adam. It restores the divine sight you had before coming to this world, yet it leaves you in a human body. Awake in a world where most eveybody else is in a dreaming state. x
It looks like you are hinting at the transcendence of duality here. But, from the way you worded it, transforming Eve back into Adam would not be beyond duality at all, it would simply be exchanging one form of energy for it's direct opposite.
I get that this is just an analogy, but I don't care for it much. I guess one perspective I have is that humanity in general is moving toward a more feminine perspective, regaining balance after a long period of male dominance. The feminine represents surrender, openness, intuition, flexibility, the receptive quality. I'd say if anything.. Adam is transforming into Eve. But that wouldn't be the best way of putting it either, imho. I'd say there's more of an integration, a blending, a harmonizing...yin & yang... BALANCE. And rejection of the material world... giving it up, moving away from it, and all that.. is NOT in balance. I think many spiritual seekers fall into that trap.
How about pulling out and pushing back in a radio antenna? Your individual point of awareness is the tip. Eventually, you return to what it is you came out of. Everything in creation is an extension of something before it. All connected, yet lots of room for individuality. Whether you identify with only the human self, or the "rest" of creation, is a personal choice. Adam is not bound by his creation, but in order to enjoy it, he has to lock pieces of himself away so as not to spoil the experiences it brings. Discovery is how "God" plays. As for duality, the moment the first creation was born from the formless God, duality began. Everything that is created by the first creation (the creator God) is tainted with this duality. It's worst for humans. The only way to totally escape it is to merge with the formless God. As individuals created by the creator God, he would be our stopping point, as only the creator God can fuse with the formless God. The antenna is now shoved all the way in. x
EVE wasnt the first WOMAN god created! see in bible they say God created man&woman .... few words late when adam is in a deep sleep God took a rib of adam a created EVE! WHAT your saying? GOD first woman LILITH didnt want to LAY for ADAM. she wanted more power over ADAM she wanted to be the one to say to adam what to do. so god ask her nicely to do what man ask her to do LAY for adam! witch her didnt what to do. so god told her im sending you to hell so she got piss and sayed ill be killing adam and eve first 100 born from them. that part like many other parts didnt make it to the bilbe cause of politics in rome or grece at the time.and i think in the jewish scolls they talk about here and i think the muslim kuran talk about her has a Saint!
Ah yes, Lillith. I was going to mention her. The uninhibited one, wild & free... Adams's equal. The church couldn't have that, so they cast her out and replaced her with Eve.. the compliant & submissive one, the one to carry the brunt of Adam's guilt and shame without complaint. LOL!
Adam and Eve are symbolic of other things. Might be a while before you realize it, but it's going to make you smile when you do. Then you "get it". x
HA. I think the same thing all the time. if it is insest, then does that mean its insest now? or is it only insest when in your "close" family? These questions MUST have answers!
