So i decided to start my dreadlock journey, and i've had them in for 6 months now and i love them soo much... but i have a big problem: i totally wasn't aware that wax was such a bad thing, and now i'm coming to realize this n i'm thinking its too late.
my dreads have this gunky shit in most of them and it won't come out !! it's a combination of wax, fluff, dirt, and whatever the heck else is in there. i didn't actually put the dreads in myself, you see.. i got this hair stylist from Trinidad to put them in for me and i think she fuckin put some sort of holding glue on the roots and it was all hard and crunchy until i washed it a few times.
i also have bleach blonde hair so you can completely see the shit in my dreads, and it's starting to get real nasty. i definately DO NOT want to cut these dreads out so that is not an option, after all this hard fuckin work... but i don't really know where to go from here????

please help me out and throw me some ideas of what to do :)

Oh yeah, and i'm planning on dying them to my hair's natural colour at the end of the month

Ok seeing as you're not up for starting over again.....

Have a read around there are plenty of other people who got sucked into the wax trap. Myself included. How long's your hair? Wax has a very high melting point, that's why it's so hard to remove. If your hair's long enough soak your dreads in boiling water. Mind your scalp though. There are various different concoctions as to what people add to the water. If you haven't already read the sticky near the top about wax removal. You can also try adding dishsoap/washing up liquid to boiling water to help remove it. You'll probably have to do it many times to get it out. You might not get it all out, depends if it's been melted into the hair or not. If you're up for it pics might help to see how bad it is. If it's only been six months I'd say you've got a good chance of getting most of it out. I wish you luck :)
