Negative comments you've gotten on your dreads?

Since I've gotten dreads all of the comments seem to be "Do you grow?" (referring to weed. :p) and things like "How do you wash your hair?". It could be worse, though, when I had an Afro people kept asking me how I got my hair that way (When my hair naturally goes like that when I comb it upwards) and people would put gum and other crap in it. :(

So, what types of negative comments have you ever gotten about your dreadlocks?

This one kid came up to me and was like why would you ever do that to your hair?!.... it looks terrible. I just started to laugh at him and walked away.

honestly why would someone waste their time concerning about my hair? what an idiot lol

I have yet to get a bad comment even when I first started them. Just questions, and compliments.

Besides playfull insults from close friends and family, nothing really "negative" yet.

Although i do get alot of annoying questions/statements.

I cringe every time i hear "You Know you/that" now. because it almsot always ends with "cant wash your hair" or "your going to get lice" , or things along those lines.

Im pretty sure people just make stuff up. My uncle said he always though people put mud in there hair to make dreadlocks...

they put gum in you dreads? What the fuck, that makes me mad. I hoped the removal went ok. That's just cruel.

    gum in your hair, idiots.

the only thing i can recall someone saying to me was "brush your hair", as if he was trying to shut me up or something.

Yeah haha I've been told dreads get maggots... The most common question though I think is "Do you wash it?" Yeah lice too.. Its like some people think personal hygiene goes out the window when you lock your hair... watever is wat i say, i'll do watever i want and i dont care what anyone thinks

my dreads look dope and one rasta was questioning me about how i got them and said "looks like bwoy, you've got a one hundred dollar hair style." so i told him how it is and that they are all natural.

other than that some people seem to think i don't wash them. i wash every 2-3 days as needed/

Used to get it alot where I live, the worst was when I was out shopping and this really dumb girl started shouting.
'OMG she needs a hair brush'
    'thats disgusting'
I stood still for a min calming myself down and counting to 10 as I felt really pissed off,I then went on my way :)

Another time a lad by my house leant out of his window and called me a 'hobo'
My daughters friends ask why I have funny hair.......but they are 7yrs old hehe

An elderly woman at my work said they look like rats nests LOL

    Mostly I have gotten compliments.

I always get the can you wash them? can you take them out? and then a look of horror when I tell them I'll have to cut them out. But really I have no plans for cutting ever so.. the idea doesn't bother me

hmmm lemme think. when my aunt saw them first she had a good ol' look. I felt so vialated! She was picking them up, looking at them close and squidging them. She said nothing which is always worse I think! I hate when people are looking through them and you know they aren't into them. I also don't like people seeing what I can't see!

Yeh no comments can definitely be more unnerving than bad ones. Apart from my mother-in-law's initial laughter when she thought I was joking about keeping my hair in dreads forever, they've mostly been met with total silence...
