best advice i can give ya is go spend a month in the woods far away from any mirrors you'll be amazed at the progress u make whenm yournot even thinking about making progresss
haha yes! i wish. I wish i could go squat the woods. A few friends of mine right now are actually building a shelter up on a mountain by my house to spend a few nights in. I can't wait for that. :hurray:arty:
The main ingredient of that soap is tallow. Sodium tallowate is simply beef fat. If you're not vegetarian or vegan than it's not a problem, unless the idea of beef fat in your dreads creeps you out. It's what they've been using since people began making soap, so it's not unheard of or unusual at all. I don't know how it is for residue though. I get handmade soap from the farmers market, or use One With Nature which are cheap and at most health food stores. A lot of soapcrafters don't use tallow anymore, because so many people wish to avoid animal products. One With Nature is vegan.
Oh my, I just looked at your profile and see you're vegan too!! I hope you didn't order that soap yet
Yeah, bug killer is different. I don't know too many people who carry bug killer into the woods. That CAN'T be good for the environment. Bug repellent just...repells them. I never liked to use bug killer, though I lived in a house with waterbug/roaches and my bf would spray them mostly. Sometimes I would. I could never kill a spider <3
oh no are you serouis? i didnt think anything of it because on the page it says there are no animal products. Thank you for letting me know though.
Someone needs to inform them that sodium tallowate is beef fat then. They shouldn't be advertising something as vegan that is most definiately not. They most likely just didn't know, even though the word tallow should really give it away.
Also, these soaps are EXCELLENT for dreads, and they have dead sea salt so they help them lock up as well. They are very cheap at my local organic market and co op. I highly recommend them, more than I would Bronners, personally. http://onewithnature.com/
yeah you know what? i was actually going to get that kind of soap. I swear i was standing at the market for an hour looking at the soap, people must of thought i was crazy. The thing that i noticed was the sea salt which i did read somewhere that helps. So i think i will give that a try. Thank you again for pointing that out to me about that soap. I would of been devastated if i used it and found out later. I probably would of cryed my eyes out. Thank you so much.
Korey, you are a beaut! Can't wait to see your progress. You will look fhebekadslokjfhgorgeous with dreads! x
Aww, I'm glad I could help. I actually did the same thing once. My partner and I were at the co op and found some locally made soap, and got really excited cause they came in some really yummy varities and had one that seemed like it would be excellent for my boyfriend skin problem he was having. We got it before we realized it was made with beef fat. We used it, because it was still good to support local suppliers, and because we obviously couldn't return it. But we sure felt weird smearing cow fat on our body. I think I'd hate it worse on my hair!!
ahh that sucks, yeah i am pretty sure that i will just give the soap to someone cause i am not going to use it at all. I am sorry that happend to you though
