I would consider myself a fairly educated and well-researched drug user. I've abused benadryl many times in the past and I've always experienced its effects (both pleasant and not). Recently a friend of mine has been trying to abuse it- taking doses between 350mg and 525mg - but has experienced nothing but "feeling happy" I know this is definitely not a normal effect for Diphenhydramine, so I asked him about any other substances he's consumed, foods he's been eating, and medications that he might have taken that might be affecting the benadryl... He reported that he had not taken any additional substances, had only eaten normal foods, and was not on any medications. I asked if he had eaten a lot of food prior and after taking the benadryl, and he said that he had not eaten anything. I'm absolutely perplexed. I have no idea why he's not being affected by the drug at all... I've looked all over the internet and could find nothing on benadryl not affecting certain people, so ive turned to you guys... What the fuck is going on??
what do you mean? I've used benadryl before and experienced MUCH more than a placebo effect... it's a legit anticholinergic drug.
yea, it's definitely not just placebo. but everyone's body is different, like ive read about people taking 900 mgs of DXM and getting way further out there than I did on 933.
I just find it amazing that he experiences NOTHING... I mean, I've always known that people respond to certain drugs differently- i've even known somebody who got depressed on ecstacy (not after, but DURING the roll)... I just didn't think that certain drugs could have such extreme effects in some people and litterally NONE in others... he didn't even twitch, itch, or piss a lot, which are the physical attributes of benadryl
You got it, people are just different. Maybe your friend should hold off on the Benadryl, and def. not exceed the amounts he has been taking. Remember, just because he is somewhat immune to the recreational effects doesn't mean it cannot harm him.
My use and abuse of drugs has always been that of scientific study and curiosity... I've always researched, documented, took notes, and followed up on all of the drugs I've used. Yes, I have abused benadryl, and i will say that I enjoyed it a lot- knowing full well all of the facts, risks, pros, and cons. Your definition of "Real" drugs is appearently a narrow-minded obsession with illegal or socially rejected substances, and not based AT ALL on the fact that many other substances are just as able to create psychoactive effects. No, i'm not retarded, although you may want to ask yourself if you are.
Yeah, you are right.... my bad. After your first post in this thread you just seemed a bit defensive. Maybe your friend should just quit since he isn't getting the desired effects. Good luck.
Though yah, thank you Does2, I would never suggest to my friend that he just try taking more in an attempt to get the recreational effects
He probably will thank you, because Benadryl usually isn't a high that most people enjoy anyways. Scares the shit out of 95% of people that take it...the other 5 percent, well, they must just like feeling delirious, haha.
Diphenhydramine tolerance seems to develop pretty quickly also tolerance and threshold for people seems to vary wildly accroding to erowid. I can say that however I don't recomoend it. It is a shitty high and you will feel like shit the next day and depending on how much you take you may feel horrible comming down add that on top of having to piss like every 2 minutes and it just isn't enjoyable
Seeing as this post is about me I figure Id fill in the blanks the my first dosage was 525 mg and the only effect i felt is i was in a better mood. I wasn't in the laughing for no reason mood just happy. Also I didnt have to go to the bathroom allot, Plus i was didnt have any negitive side effects the next day. So the next day i did some more resarch and thought well mabey i just took to much so i lowered the dose to 350mg and waited and this time I hade no effects at all like before and both times i didn't even get drowsy. The only thing that comes to mind is when i was 10 I had a very bad allergic reaction to poison Ivy and was procribed a type of staroid. O ther then that is it really possible for my body to react to the medication in the least bit ?
^Everybody reacts to drugs in a different way, because we are all different. There could be plenty of factors as to why you didn't feel it, but I wouldn't even know where to start. Like I said, you aren't missing out on anything, unless you want to know what it feels like to be actually insane.
Just stay up for two days and then take some salvia, you will know. Or you can take some salvia on a dxm come down, I know I did. I also tried to get dryld, never worked for me, first time my eyes was all wiggly, but then I fell asleep, then the second time I tried to stay awake for hella long after and I had been up all night at work, most I got was a startle right before going to sleep. I figured that what was suppose to happen was all a dream anyways so I said fuggit. I chalk that shit to the game. By the way this was 20 pill doses.
