Now, id like to start by saying that I am completely against handguns in the wrong hands. but the fact of the matter is, the other side has them. and if it comes down to me having to kill or have my family killed, id choose to kill. I am by no means gung ho, pro weapon, or anything like that, i hate guns. i hate murder, but sometimes you need protection. so my question is, whats the easiest way to obtain a handgun? any good cheap sources?

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in Government." -Thomas Jefferson

I hope i never have to use it.

You can get rifles at Wal-Mart they are cheaper then anyone but I think they stopped selling handguns.

Wait wait wait... Currently youre homeless, and you want to get a handgun? Cops dont think that highly of people sleeping on the streets with handguns. Just saying.

And I know that (in VA) at least, you must be 21 to buy a handgun from a dealer, but to private purchase one or have it "gifted" to you, you can be 18.

I think you stand a very high chance of either getting killed or killing somebody else.

You, my friend, need to stay away from firearms.

They're not going to solve your problem.

Topher, head on down to the local Sheriffs department, they will be more than happy to go over all the rules and regulations of owning a handgun. I would love to tell the rules but they change so often that I would trust only someone in law enforcement to advise me.

US is fucked up man it should be like here in UK you just cant have a gun legally it would cut your gun crime rate massively, im not saying you cant get them in UK cos you can but not easily and the police are on top of it now. Its justa big money thing for all the weapons makers

Try to get one from a private party. Black market. Ask around. Just TRY to not have it be a hot gun! Never register your gun. Best not to have things like that on file... And make sure to stock up on ammo, as it could get hard to come by.

Topher is still in high school. In fact he was suspended for calling his gym teacher a bitch this week. He has anger issues and is rather anti-social. He's a walking billboard for NOT letting some people own firearms.

Hmmm...Maybe I should have asked, "why are you looking for a firearm?" there's a big difference between the need to protect your home, and the desire to find some trouble. If you are still in high school i assume that you are still living at home. in which case, it is your parents responsibility to protect said home, not yours. Having a firearm in your possesion will only attract trouble.
When you turn 21, and buy your own home, then maybe you could consider how to protect it. until then, i suggest you put a baseball bat behind your door.
