since women in the military, like my sister, tend to get kinda ticked about not being able to fight in combat positions, i think the blame for the double standard still lies heavily on the men's of the issue.
it is a double standard, but again, it's men's fault. women are also fighting for the right to fully serve in military positions but are being blocked my the us government. there are very few who would WANT to go into combat, my cousin sonny did, but he was always a crazy SOB. if the draft came into effect, it would only be fair and right for women to serve as fully as men do. in many ways, though, our variance in abilities, male vs. female, does come into effect. it's rare for a woman to be as physically robust as the male of the species. we're complimentary wholes who deserve equal rights and respect. but the military means business and they're going to go about it as practically and realistically as possible given the way that works for them. i grew up military my whole life. i've seen women go off on deployments. my sister is going active now that her husband is back from iraq. she's a sea bee. that puts her in construction in hazardous areas. but she's willing to do her job in a male dominated field. those men who serve with her aren't combat, either. the entirely of the military isn't just grunts getting shot at. it's a huge force of people working together in various fields. most of the grunts just plain DON'T WANT WOMEN there. and the big mucky mucks agree with them. that's not the fault of women.
i agree. i also include homosexuals in that. sex and sexuality should have no bearing on how the military allows you to serve your country.
i don't think so. women don't get privacy out there, either. deal with all of it or quit complaining about any of it.
