So theres is prob a thread on this somewhere but the search doesn't work for me nemore for some reason. So i have a mucinex like bottle of pills and its 20mg of DXM hbr and 400mg guaf in each tablet. ive searched for a good extraction tut for it but i cant find a good one really but i waswondering if guaf is water soluble or not. I've been told that dxm isnt so i could do a water extraction but if guaf isnt water soluble i would need a way to get rid of it. any ideas?
No, you can't, from my knowledge. Just go back to the store and buy something that has DXM as the ONLY active ingredient. Cough syrup IS legal and not hard to come by.
I would think it would be more trouble to extract it than it would be worth even if you could find out how to do it. I couldnt imagine you doing it easily. It would be infinately easier to just follow the advice U4ia offered. It would save you a lot of time, effort, and would probably be safer.
Plus doing an extraction on something like that, you would need a ton of pills to get a decent amount of DXM. After doing that much extracting with that little of product (20mg per pill) and that much product you don't want (400mg per pill) you will probably end up with a product that is about half of what you thought it would be, and waste time and money.
haha yea i would jus go out and buy some dxm only products but im unemployed and stay at home helping my mom out with stuff and so i have a lot of time to kill and found a full bottle of these pills in my drawer so i figured id try it out jus somethin to do and i could learn a little bout acid/base extractions. id like to keep it hbr though and not end up with the base. i appreciate ur advice though. i read that the agent lemon way would get rid of the guaf from the final product but im still trying to find out if guaf is water soluble.
I just think you would end up losing a lot of product, and wouldn't be able to really be sure if all the Guaf was out. And at 400mg per pill, that could get dangerous. This would be fun as an experiment, but I wouldn't ingest the remaining solution.
yea thats wat im scared of cuz ive had bad experiences with guaf it sux. well im gonna do some more research cuz it def would be a fun little experiment so ill report anything i find out thanks for the advice
