Hey so i have curley hair but i like to strraighten my hair. I was wondering if i get my hair wet, can i still straighten the dreads after they arre dry? and also if i straighten them..would that decrease the locking process if i am doing it the neglect way?

straighteneing damages your hair, you want your hair to be in best quality for dreading. if you wanna straighten your hair then why do you want dreads?

im not sure how you could straighten locks, but it does damage your hair. you need strong healthy hair for locks, if you weaken it, parts could break and even fall completely off.

    actually i've done it before...heh that's a long story.
but it definately does hinder dreading...cuz it makes yer hair all smooth and slippery and nonsense.

curly hair dreads really easy straightening it would definately set ya bacvk
lety it go wilsd and crazy and it will dread much berttter

    straighteners are harsh chemicals
    dreads are nbatural
adjust your thinking..natural methods produce natural results
the more natural stuff u use in your hjair the better

im not sure i have kind of wavy to straight hair. I am trying to get dreads too by doing it the neglect way. I think it will take a lot longer then i am thinking. I hope though by the summer time i will start to see some locks. What do you think everyone? :) Seeing as i just started like a week and half ago haha :)

    yea u probly will
it varries how long it takes dread sites like dhhq and knottyboy try to scare ya alot into thinking they always take a yewar or 2 but ive seen natural dreads form in just a week or 2
it depends on the length alot thougfh
is your hair 4-6 inches or longer? if so you probly will be pretty dready in a couple months
but also depends onthe oiliness/dryness factor and many things
nobody can say for sure how long it will take or what to expect
well except that it takes as long as it takes

Yeah my hair is longer then that. It is 7-8 inches. I really only wash my hair whenever it is needed though. So i would say 1-2 times a week. My next washing will be on sunday. :) I want to make something in a spray bottle with lemon and salt. If i did that after i washed my hair, how much do you think that will help?
