    good evening!
I've been ATTEMPTING to grow dreads for a few months, and as i know they take a long time to form, if you start out with short hair.
The past four or five months ive spent doing the usual routine to 'grow' dreads, but i've been thinking about the way i sleep..

I'm half black, so my hair grows in a fro. when i sleep though the back+side (depending on how i sleep) is extremely flat, as in it takes around 3 minutes of water/hand use just to get it to curl and regain some sort of density.
I was wondering if this would interfere with growing dreads, seeing as in the mornings i "poof" the flat parts out so they dont look.. well, flat.

    hope it made sense!
    thanks

instead of poofing the flat parts out twist them into clumps
the poofing is unknotting anty knots just grabv a chuink and twist it into a section
dont over do it though u can do dammage
after doinmg this for several days though they should start to hold together in the sections and begin to dread

Maybe consider sleeping with some kind of hat? a wool hat, or something?

I'm half-black too, and my dreads only went in paddles if I washed it before going to bed. If you've been washing it before you go to sleep, I would suggest stop and wash it in the morning instead.

I have a nappy fro too, and I get that same flatness every morning. And I have two flat paddles growing out in the front since it's been dreading along...

I dunno...I don't mind flat dreads as much as everybody else seems too...eh.

im 1/2 white..and the other 1/2 white too many of my dreads are flat..i love em more then ther round ones they got more personality
i never understood why people would work so hard at removing every hint of personality from theyre dreads
forcing every hair into place forcing the tips to be perfectly blunt
rolling away every lump and twist making them perfectly uniform and round
    seriusly how boring
the wilder and crazier the better
